WE HELP OUT!

Students from Plant Systems Management went to Wilmington Manor to assist elementary students plant their raised garden beds for the fall. PSM students assisted 1st graders with learning how to spread seeds out in a designated line then showed them how to cover them up so they can start the germination process. Each student enjoyed working with the elementary students and are excited to the chance to go back and harvest with them.

The Agriculture Sciences Pathway is one of the exciting opportunities for students at William Penn. Come learn more about it at Homecoming next week!

📚🦅 A new chapter for Delaware readers began today at Eisenberg Elementary!

Governor Matt Meyer and Secretary of Education Cindy Martin visited Eisenberg to sign a proclamation declaring September Literacy Month in Delaware. We were also joined by the Delaware public Libraries to launch a pilot program at Eisenberg. The program connects every Eisenberg student with their local public library, as they can use their school ID as their library card. This connection opens the door to more books, more discoveries, and more opportunities for students to grow as confident, lifelong readers.
To help celebrate the day, some of our Big E students acted as greeters, and students from Mrs. House’s second-grade class had a front-row seat to the signing, watching an exciting moment for education unfold right in their school!

The celebration continued as Secretary Martin shared stories with some of our first-grade classes—bringing the joy of reading directly into our classrooms. ✨

Thank you to Governor Meyer, Secretary Martin and our partners at the Delaware Public Libraries for spending time with our students and supporting literacy across Delaware. When schools, libraries, and communities come together, the possibilities for our children grow. That’s the Power of WE!

Regular attendance matters.
As the cold and flu season ramps up, have you ever thought, "Should my child go to school today?" If your child has mild symptoms but can eat, drink, and participate in learning, school is usually the right place to be.

Please keep your child home if they have:

• A fever of 100.4°F or higher
• Vomited two or more times in the past 24 hours
• Diarrhea two or more times above their normal frequency, or stool that cannot be contained
• Trouble breathing, a persistent or severe cough, signs of dehydration, or symptoms that prevent participation

If you’re unsure, contact your school nurse.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re giving our students the chance to tell their own stories.

Meet Michael, a Wilbur Elementary student who is proud to share a little about his Puerto Rican heritage!

When asked what he loves most about it, Michael had an answer: the food—especially anything made with papaya. For him, those flavors are one of the ways he connects with his heritage and shares it with others.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing yours and reminding us that a favorite food can be a meaningful part of who we are.
