Smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to impact air quality across New Castle County. Current Air Quality Index (AQI) values are between 250–300, which falls into the Very Unhealthy category. At these levels, everyone can experience health effects, and those with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and pregnant women are at even greater risk.

What you should do:
- Stay indoors as much as possible and keep windows and doors closed.
- Run your air conditioning on recirculate if available.
- If you must be outside for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 respirator.
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activities and exercise.
- Check on family members, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to poor air quality.
