VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Help with Flood Recovery Follow-Up Calls 📞

Heart of Indiana United Way is working with local Emergency Management to follow up with residents who contacted 2-1-1 for help after the flooding—and we need volunteers to help make those calls.

Volunteers should be:
• Comfortable talking with people by phone and listening with care
• Comfortable using a computer and entering information into an online form
• Able to follow a provided script and accurately record responses

**Basic computer skills are required.** We’ll provide the script, online form and guidance you need. Volunteers will also be required to complete a background check.

Many community partners have been actively assessing needs and coordinating resources to ensure support reaches those most affected.

While immediate needs are being met, efforts are now shifting toward long-term recovery and rebuilding. Recovery takes time, and we remain committed to working alongside community partners to help restore stability and resilience. Thank you for making this possible!

Disaster relief grants are now available to eligible homeowners provided by Citizens State Bank - Indiana. Visit their website for more information.

Indiana homeowners impacted by recent flooding may have financial assistance available to help with recovery.

Eligible households may qualify for up to $10,000 in disaster relief funds for needs like emergency home repairs, temporary housing, essential home systems and more.

‼️It's important to report ALL damage to Indiana 211. Reporting damage to 211 assists our community in receiving necessary aid for recovery! ‼️

UPDATED 8/18/2026 at 4:31 p.m. ET - CASS COUNTY ADDED

Indiana 211 is accepting damage reports for the counties mapped below.

To help establish a comprehensive assessment of damage, residents can call 866-211-9966 or visit the Indiana 211 website (on.in.gov/IN-211).

Collecting assessments via this process will help IDHS determine damage estimates and develop the next course of action in the disaster recovery process. 211 can also help residents connect to local resources to aid in response and recovery.
