Did you know that New York is home to a statue dedicated to Dante Alighieri?

Located in Dante Park, near Lincoln Center, the monument honors the author of the Divine Comedy, one of the fathers of the Italian language and one of the most influential poets in world literature.

The statue was unveiled in 1921 to mark the 600th anniversary of Dante’s death, becoming a lasting symbol of the connection between Italian culture and New York City.

More than a literary tribute, it is a reminder of how Italian heritage continues to live in the city’s public spaces.
