Consul General Binaya S. Pradhan attended the ceremonial bill-signing marking the establishment of the Connecticut–India Trade Commission, presided over by Governor of Connecticut, Mr. Ned Lamont Governor Ned Lamont , at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford.

The ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz , Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox State Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox , Assemblyman Stephen Meskers , other elected representatives, business and academic leaders, and members of the Indian-American community.

The Commission will provide a dedicated platform to strengthen India–Connecticut cooperation in trade, investment, technology, innovation, higher education and institutional partnerships.

Consul General Binaya S. Pradhan paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India’s armed forces. Lt Gen (Retd) Mohan Anand Gurbaxani, Brig (Retd) U.K. Dhar and Col (Retd) Virendra Tavathia were among the distinguished veterans who paid homage to the heroes of Kargil war.

A film prepared by the youth members of Indian diaspora on Op Vijay depicting the heroic role played by men & women of Indian armed forces was appreciated by the gathering of veterans and members of Indian diaspora.
