We are starting to see some activity on the radar. Be safe. Have your phone volume turned up, and your weather radio turned on.

Could get interesting tonight. Have an outlet for changing weather conditions. Secure anything outdoors that the wind could wreak havoc on.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move into eastern Nebraska/western Iowa overnight. Expect a possibility for damaging wind gusts, large hail, heavy rain and isolated flash flooding with any storms that develop.

Please be aware of changing conditions over night. If you have anything that can take flight, like a trampoline, tent, awning, etc... Please secure it now. Be safe.

Severe thunderstorms in western South Dakota have produced winds over 100 mph at times. Those storms will try to push through Sioux Falls and Sioux City and along the Missouri River overnight. Should these storms maintain their power, strong wind gusts will be affecting eastern Nebraska and western Iowa by sunrise.

Emergency Services will continue to monitor the weather throughout the evening until all current watches and warnings expire. Although it appears that the majority of today's threat has passed, we are grateful that the storms that seemed threatening bypassed us. Our climate is a complex entity, and while some individuals dedicate their lives to understanding it, I wonder if we will ever be able to accurately predict its behavior. For this reason, I am thankful that our tribal and clinic leadership reached out about the desire to open the clinic doors for those without adequate shelter. I am also deeply appreciative that our clinic security officer, Josh Saul, was willing to come in and provide assistance to help make this happen. The safety and security of the community is a collective responsibility, but we appreciate the efforts of those who are called upon during unique or rare events. Be safe. Jon
