NK RECREATION update - week of 8/30

Wheels are turning and there are a lot of moving parts happening in the Recreation Department with classes starting and summer programs coming to an end. What will you be doing this fall? Let us make some recommendations:

• Line Dancing Instruction with Jesse Liam taking place on Thursday nights (4-week class)
• Babysitter Workshop – 2-night class on 10/22 & 10/29
• 30+ Basketball on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings – season runs through June 13, 2027
• Outdoor Pickleball Clinics for adults on Sunday mornings
• Co-Ed Volleyball on Monday nights for adults. The program runs through 6/7/2027.
• Comic Book Creation on Tuesday nights

NEW Program registrations opening this week:
• Crafts for adults including Book Bedazzling and Nature Crafts
• Indoor adult Pickleball Clinics starting in November
• Red Ball Tennis clinics for youth starting in November
• Yoga class sessions in October and November

Programs with registrations CLOSING SOON. BEAT THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE and register today:
• Girls Field Hockey for ages 5 – 14
• Girls Gymnastics (2 age groups)
• Home Alone Safety class for youth (1 night only)
• Youth Running Club
• Tennis Clinics – for Intermediate or Beginner adult players. Morning or evening options as well
• Zumba – Wednesday nights at the Community s=Center (12-week class)

A COMMUNITY EFFORT BRINGS FUN TO NORTH KINGSTOWN

The definition of "community" is a group of people living in the same place, or a group of people connected by shared interests, background or goals.

North Kingstown municipal workers and volunteers, NK fire and police departments and local non-profit organizations came together and gave the Town of North Kingstown an amazing day of food, games, music and fun; all at no cost with the generous contributions of many fantastic sponsors.

The Town of North Kingstown is grateful for the music of Purple Honey, the involvement of so many vendors providing valuable resources to the community, a great array of food vendors and most importantly those municipal workers and volunteers who took time out of their weekend to plan and execute an amazing day to the community.

Here is a small glimpse of the day with more to come.....

Grab the kids, grab the grandkids, and bring your game face! Our Backyard Battle Friendly Competitions are all about laughs, teamwork, and a little friendly competition!
**** Water Balloon Toss — 3 age groups
**** Spoon & Egg Race — FOUR age groups – one includes parent and child teams!
**** Potato Sack Races — 3 age groups

All competitions are timed, so bring your speed, balance, teamwork…and maybe a little luck!
Pre-registration is required! Stop by the Information Booth at the event to sign up.

NO WILSON PARK ATHLETIC FACILITY USE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29

Please be advised that all athletic facilities will not be available from dawn through 7pm on Saturday, August 29 (tomorrow) to host the annual NK Family Day event. The Wilson Park facility amenities will be available on Sunday as the weather is looking outstanding tomorrow with no need to carry the event over.

Though weekly reminders have been issued, we ask that league presidents please connect with all coaches to ensure they are aware of no facility use. Please confirm that if other facilities will be used, that permits are attained in order to alleviate any conflicted use.

For tennis and pickleball players, the courts at McGinn Park will be available after 10:30 following the weekly league.

We apologize for any inconvenience but hope you will join us at Wilson Park for tomorrow's event.
