Congratulations to NSPD Lieutenant Brandon Poel on being named the Michigan Department of Natural Resources 2025 Hunter Safety Education Instructor of the Year!

For 25 years, Lt. Poel has dedicated countless hours to teaching safe, responsible, and ethical hunting through the Norton Shores Police Department's Hunter Safety Program. Under his leadership, the program has helped prepare approximately 80 students each year while going above and beyond the state's training requirements. He has also spent decades mentoring new instructors and volunteering with Sportsmen for Youth, helping introduce thousands of young people to Michigan's outdoor traditions.

This well-deserved recognition reflects Lt. Poel's unwavering commitment to public service, education, conservation, and our community. We are incredibly proud to have him representing the Norton Shores Police Department.
