Happy National Tradesperson Day!

Approximately 34 million people work in the skilled trades sectors. In the construction trades, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics outlines 20 distinct occupations and lines of work. The trades are the backbone of our economy, yet the field of construction is facing a 349,000 person gap that needs to be filled. We at LCG are committed to bridging that gap through connecting skilled workers to new jobs in the trades in an effort to support an industry that needs new hires, fast.

This tradesperson day, we celebrate all those who are already working in the trades and those who are training to join. Whether you're in masonry, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry, all our trades are vital parts of our economy and community. September is Hispanic Heritage Month! Did you know that 55% of the Construction industry in the Bay Area identifies as Hispanic? With such a large percentage of our industry being celebrated this month, it is important to take the time to uplift our community members, friends, and partners, and if you are Hispanic, to celebrate yourself and your cultural heritage! Tag your favorite Hispanic construction businesses and workers in the comment section, show them some appreciation this month!!!

Last week our team had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Women in Construction Conference in Sacramento. This 2 day conference is an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the construction community across various trades and job titles to come together and discuss ways to further gender equality and participation in the field. As part of our participation in this year's conference, we represented the Sacramento Airport at the Exhibition Hall. Visitors to our booth had the opportunity to speak with us about the CWTA agreement that we are working on with the new construction projects at the Airport. We appreciated everyone who stopped by and hope to return to the 2027 WIC conference!

We’re excited to be back at the Women in Construction Conference!

Last year was a great opportunity to connect with women and industry partners across the construction community, and we’re looking forward to returning this year to share more about the Construction Workforce Training Agreement (CWTA), SMForward career opportunities, and efforts to expand access to construction careers for Sacramento County residents.

A few weeks ago we celebrated Lowe Consulting Group's 20 year anniversary!

While this milestone took place in August, the planning started a whole year ago with a goal to complete at least 12 volunteering activities or charitable donations in celebration of our 20 years of action, advising, and public engagement.

This past year we have sponsored, volunteered with, donated to over 14 different organizations and nonprofits including Alameda County Food Bank, Mentoring in Medicine, and the East Bay Collective. Throughout this 12 for 20 campaign, we have learned a lot about what it means to give back as an organization. We were able to reinvest our time and money into the communities that we live and work in.

Our staff cleaned beaches, participated in 5ks, and packaged food supplies. We partnered with people who are making our cities better and have found inspiration for our own journeys. While our 20 year anniversary has passed and our 12 for 20 campaign is over, our commitment to service is not.

Our 12 for 20 initiative taught us a lot, and we will continue to take those lessons and experiences with us as we continue to serve the community with kindness, readiness, and determination.

Happy Labor Day!

Workers are the foundation of our cities and lives. Without workers, nothing would happen. But before the work happens, there need to be mentors and supervisors who train our labor force. That is why this Labor Day we would like to tag some community partners who are striving to provide job training to the next generation. These training programs are vital in continuing the job pipeline and ensuring that a new line of future engineers, carpenters, electricians, and so many more are equipped to join the trades.

August is National Black Business Month! And what a busy month it has been for Lowe Consulting Group. As a Black owned business, we understand the importance of using our platform to support our communities, and the importance of taking time to celebrate your wins. Throughout our 20 years of business we have taken the time to support and celebrate ourselves and our community partners. This year in celebration of our 20th anniversary we embarked on a campaign of donating or volunteering at least once a month for 12 months. Our most recent activity for our 12 for 20 campaign included a donation of PPE materials to our partners at Rising Sun Center for Opportunity. We welcomed the opportunity to continue our partnership with Rising Sun as well as the ability to continue our agenda of giving back to the community through providing important materials that will be put to good use by their team.

Building a strong local workforce is a key part of the work happening at Sacramento International Airport through the Community Workforce & Training Agreement (CWTA).

As part of our ongoing workforce development efforts supporting the CWTA and SMForward projects, Lowe Consulting Group was proud to partner with Tradeswomen, Inc. and the Sacramento County Department of Airports to host a Mock Interview & Networking event at Sacramento International Airport (SMF).
The event brought job seekers together with contractors and workforce partners to strengthen interview skills, receive real-world feedback, build industry connections, and learn more about pathways into construction careers.

A special thank you to Austin Commercial–Swinerton Joint Venture, McGuire and Hester, Turner Construction, and Rising Sun Opportunity Build for investing their time and expertise in local talent.

We also appreciate Tradeswomen, Inc. and Juanita Douglas for their continued partnership and commitment to preparing women and local workers for careers in the skilled trades.

The CWTA is about more than meeting local hire goals. It is about building the relationships, preparation, and pathways that help local residents access and succeed in the opportunities being created through SMForward.

This is workforce development in action: preparing local talent, connecting people directly to industry, and creating stronger pathways from training to employment.
