I had the opportunity to join the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics and Joby Aviation at Will Rogers International Airport for a live demonstration of Joby's J208 autonomous aircraft. The modified Cessna Caravan aircraft recently achieved a major milestone by completing a 3,199-mile autonomous transcontinental flight across the United States.

State, federal and industry leaders highlighted the potential applications of autonomous aviation for commercial freight, emergency response and defense logistics. The program concluded with the aircraft taxiing and departing Oklahoma City for the next stop on its national tour.

Had a great time attending East Central University’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Dan Hayes STEM center last week.

The center provides flexible dry laboratory spaces that support interdisciplinary science and mathematics education, along with active-learning classrooms designed to expand and enhance existing STEM programs.

It’s awesome seeing a member of the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO), and my Alma mater, growing in ways that will help ensure Oklahoma is ready for the future.

ADA, Okla. – In 1909, Chickasaw Citizen Dan Hays donated 16 acres of his land to help establish a new teacher-training institution in Ada. The institution, East Central State Normal School, would eventually become East Central University.

The Oklahoma Senate joins our nation in remembering the tragedy that changed our country 25 years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001. We mourn the lives lost and honor the first responders and others who answered the call to serve in the aftermath of 9/11.

Proud to have been part of the bill authorizing the installation of the Gold Star Family Monument on the capitol grounds, all with private funding. Gold Star families have paid the ultimate price for our freedom; this monument will serve as a public reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave military men and women and their loved ones. It was an honor to work with Representative Townley and Gold Star families on this legislation and I appreciate the support of Governor Stitt.
