Before streetcar tracks can be built into the roadway, crews have to address what is underneath it.

Along the Omaha Streetcar route, that includes replacing and relocating aging utilities, including some pipes and infrastructure that are more than 100 years old.

This work helps prepare the corridor for future track construction while also improving the underground infrastructure that supports downtown, Midtown and neighborhoods along the route.

As utility work continues to wrap up in 2026, mainline track construction will become a larger focus moving into 2027.

🧠 Free Mental Health First Aid Training This October! 💚

Mental health challenges affect people in every neighborhood. In fact, nearly 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. lives with a mental illness. Just like traditional CPR, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) gives you the skills you need to step up, recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges, and support someone in crisis.

This fall, Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare and Community Alliance are offering FREE Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid classes funded by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

October 2026 Class Schedule:

Adult MHFA Trainings:
- Wednesday, October 1
- Thursday, October 9

Youth MHFA Trainings:
- Monday, October 5
- Tuesday, October 13
- Friday, October 23
- Thursday, October 29

Event Details:

- Cost: FREE!
- Locations: Held at either Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare (4715 S 132nd St) or Community Alliance (7150 Arbor St). Check Eventbrite for specific location details for each date.
- Requirements: Minimum of 5 participants needed per class.

The Omaha Marathon will be going through Miller Park in Omaha on Sunday. Check out their route and be aware in this area.

🏃 The Omaha Marathon is coming through Miller Park this Sunday!

On Sunday, September 27, runners will make their way through Miller Park as part of the Omaha Marathon, and we’d love to see our community come out and cheer them on! 🎉

Runners are expected to travel through the park between approximately 8:20 AM and 11 AM.

A few things to know if you’re visiting Miller Park Sunday morning:

🚧 The entrances at 30th Street, Redick Avenue and Kansas Avenue will be closed from 8 AM until 11 AM.

🚔 Volunteers and OPD will be on site to help direct traffic during the race.

⛳ The golf course will remain accessible with no interruption to access.

You may also notice course markings and stakes throughout the park beginning Saturday evening as the Omaha Marathon team prepares for race day.

Come out, find a spot along the route and help us give the runners a warm Miller Park welcome as they make their way through!
