Structure Fire at 2 Kennedy Avenue

OSWEGO, NY — 6/22/26

The Oswego Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2 Kennedy Avenue on June 22, 2026 at approximately 3:45am. Upon arrival, Oswego Firefighters encountered smoke on the first floor and quickly identified a working basement fire. Crews stretched hoselines into the single family home to extinguish the flames, while others searched for any trapped occupants. The fire was contained to the area of origin and quickly brought under control. One occupant was evaluated at the scene by EMS personnel for possible smoke inhalation. No firefighter injuries were reported.

The Oswego Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Oswego Police Department, Fulton Fire Department, Menter Ambulance, and the Oswego County Fire Coordinator's Office. The Novelis Fire Department also provided mutual aid and staged at the East Side Station to handle any additional calls in the City of Oswego.

Fire damage was limited to the area of origin in the basement and moderate smoke damage is noted throughout the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Oswego Fire Department reminds residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed inside every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of the home.

Today we honor and remember Firefighter Scott W. Davis, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on June 20, 2010. Scotty was a Firefighter's Firefighter, a journeyman of our trade, and one you could always count on when things got tough. He was always there to help another brother or sister Firefighter, on and off duty. Scotty was that kind of guy, and if you were lucky enough to know him, you were better for it. Rest easy brother.❤️🚒

Congratulations to Lieutenant Zachery Curtis and Firefighter Samantha Parker on successfully completing the Swiftwater / Flood Rescue Technician Course at the State Preparedness Training Center (SPTC) this week.

This demanding, hands-on program provides advanced training in flood and swiftwater rescue operations, preparing responders to safely and effectively perform rescues in some of the most challenging environments. Their dedication to expanding their skills and knowledge helps ensure the City of Oswego Fire Department remains ready to serve and protect our community during water-related emergencies.
