The Foundation recently presented grant funds to the Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts for their Youth Theater Program.

The Memorial Healthcare Foundation Community Health and Education fund awarded $4,500 and the W.K. Kellogg Youth Advisory Council fund awarded $1,500 to support the Lebowsky's summer camps.

Together, the Foundation and the Lebowsky Center remain committed to nurturing the talents, creativity, and aspirations of young people. Through ongoing partnerships and community support, they continue to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of youth throughout Shiawassee County.

DeVries Nature Conservancy provided a relaxing venue for 17 returning and 14 new YAC members on Saturday, Aug 29th. After delivering 293 filled backpacks to low income elementary youth throughout Shiawassee County, their next plan is to stock shelves at Shiawassee Hope and help SAC with the clay bowls project at First Congregational Church, UCC, and Co-Sponsor the DeVries Fall Festival pumpkin painting, Cider and Donuts. YAC engagement in the community continues. They purchased most of the 255 backpacks and lunchboxes today and will be sorting & stuffing them this week to distribute to county-wide elementary youth and Lincoln High School. A special thank you to First Congregational Church, UCC of Owosso for allowing YAC to use the community room & helping to collect supplies.
(Note: YAC is distributing to local public schools & not to individuals. Contact your local elementary school if you need one for your child.)

YAC members presented to the Owosso Rotary today to share the projects and grant awards from 2025-2026 and to thank them for the Rotary-Chamber Heart of Shiawassee Award.

YAC members spread information about member community engagement and SCF scholarship reviewers. Youth at Moonlight Market were able to play two games and win fun prizes.

*Bonfire at DeVries to support & recruit Members
*Help complete the SafeCenter indoor playroom
*Owosso Farmers Market games & recruitment
*DeVries Fall Festival sponsor & Pumpkin Painting
*Take Back electronics & appliances day, Corunna
*Possible collaboration with OMS Builders Club
*Monthly meetings

Happening today! The first 2026-2027 Shiawassee YAC meeting. Join us from 12-1pm at First Congregational Church of Owosso, UCC in the Community Room on the second level.

All 12-21 year olds from Shiawassee County, Ovid & Chesaning are welcome to join us in planning community engagement activities and supporting community projects. In 2025-2026, YAC provided funding and helped with 20 initiatives.
