******Media Release******
Earlier today, a Park City Police K-9 handler and K-9 Bruno responded to assist the Utah Highway Patrol with a suspicious package near the Highway 40/I-80 interchange.
While assessing the package, Bruno jumped from the freeway overpass and sustained serious injuries. Medical personnel immediately began caring for Bruno, and Life Flight transported him to an emergency veterinary hospital in Salt Lake City for treatment.
Bruno is more than a police K-9 - he is a partner, a member of our department, and an important part of the Park City Police family. Our thoughts are with Bruno and his handler as he receives the care he needs.
We are incredibly grateful to the medical personnel, Life Flight crew, Utah Highway Patrol, and everyone who stepped in to help.
We know our community cares deeply about Bruno, and we will share additional information about his condition when we are able.
