Our Cops and Bobbers event cohosted with Pataskala Parks and Recreation was a success! Sergeant McGeorge led the way with the largest (actually the smallest) catch of the day!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On June 13, 2026, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Licking County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic violence incident involving a firearm at a residence in the 8000 block of Smoke Road in Etna Township.

Deputies and Pataskala Police Officers responded to the scene and are actively investigating the incident. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Smoke Road is currently closed between Refugee Road and National Road.

Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation permits.

Public Service Announcement: SCAM ALERT! Earlier today, we had an individual come to the station because they knew something was off. They were contacted by an individual identifying themselves as an officer of our agency with a rank that we do not have. The fake officer told the individual that they had a federal warrant out of Florida and needed to go to the bank to withdraw funds to pay for the bond to avoid jail. Coincidentally, the officer the scammers were pretending to be was working and was able to reassure the victim that they did not have a warrant and that our police department was not after them for a federal warrant out of Florida.

Please stay vigilant and remember, law enforcement will not ask you to go to a bank, ATM, or Bitcoin machine to retrieve funds to pay your bond over the phone or online. Hangup with these individuals and contact your local law enforcement agency.

Reminder: Dog Days of Summer is tomorrow June 6th, 2026 from 11am - 3pm at 3517 Headley’s Mill Rd.!

Please feel free to come out and help support our Pataskala K-9 Unit!

We are excited to welcome back the Pataskala Police Department for Dog Days of Summer 2026!

June 6th from 11am to 3pm will feature live K9 demonstrations in our lower field, and tactical demonstrations inside.

In addition, we will have a variety of raffle baskets to pique your interest, over 30 vendors on site for your shopping pleasure, caricatures, balloon twisting, face painting, bounce houses, bubbles, and several delicious food trucks on site.

All proceeds benefit the purchase and training of a new K9 for the Pataskala Police Department.

At approximately 2:00am thru 2:30am on May 29th, 2026, officers were dispatched to multiple calls reporting individuals opening and looking into vehicles. Officers eventually located the two juvenile suspects and took them into custody without further incident.

Though some video footage of the juveniles has been collected, we are in search of any more that may have caught the juveniles in the act. This incident took place in the Windward Drive subdivision and also the Woods At Taylor Estates Townhomes.

This is a free community event and you’ll have the opportunity to learn some basic fishing skills alongside one of our officers!
