Great weekend at Fish Camp at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. We made Friends from other Bucks County and NJ packs and enjoyed the wonderful program designed by Council.

Great day yesterday attending the https://facebook.com/events/s/upper-bucks-250-heritage-day-c/1525023495637805/

The boys learned about the First Pennsylvania Regiment’s role in the Revolutionary war, stone carving, yarn weaving, and much more. They even joined in for musket training and a march around Tinicum Park.

Thank you to everyone who made the day possible and volunteered their time to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary.

🎣 Pack 196 Fishing Night 🐟

Our scouts had a great night last week learning the fundamentals of fishing and what it means to be responsible outdoorsmen.

We covered the basics—from tying essential knots and understanding different types of gear, to learning fishing rules and why they matter. The scouts also spent time talking through conservation and ethical fishing—respecting wildlife, protecting our waterways, and leaving places better than we found them.

Of course, no fishing lesson would be complete without some hands-on practice! The scouts worked on their knot tying skills and got a close-up look at rods, reels, and a fully rigged boat setup.

All of this was great preparation as we look ahead to our upcoming fishing outing at Peace Valley Park this week and Fish Camp at Ockanickon next month—we’re excited to put these new skills into action!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this night both fun and educational. Great to see so many scouts engaged, asking questions, and building skills they can use for years to come.

🌲🎣 Adventure, skills, and stewardship—just another great night with Pack 196!

Gold Rush week:
This week in our den meeting, the Lions and Tigers learned about the history of the 1849s' rush to California to find gold. The scouts made their own conestoga wahon for the Good Rush evenr lt in Doylestown, at which Boy Scout Troops ran stations with a variety if Gold Rush-themed games and team building activities. The kids especially loved the catapults and slingshots, as well as collecting gold for their team as they completed each activity. A fun morning for families and a great way to relate-to and learn about how the Gold Rush shaped our county's history.

This week our youngest cubs (the Lion and Tiger dens) teamed up with an aspiring Eagle Scout from Troop 79 to ask for food donations for the Bucks County Food Pantries. The citizens of Perkasie showed so much generosity and support of this effort. We were so happy to be able to help Darian with this wonderful and worthy project.

Great overnight adventure at the Doylestown Rock Gym!

Our Scouts had fun learning how to safely climb and boulder, practicing proper technique, and building confidence with every step up the wall. From first climbs to fearless finishers, it was awesome to see the determination, teamwork, and encouragement on full display.

Thank you to the staff at Doylestown Rock Gym for their instruction and support — and to our Pack families and leaders who made this adventure possible.

Check out some of the highlights below.

Congratulations to our Pack 196 Arrow of Light Scouts!

Last week we celebrated a big milestone as our AOLs crossed over. Over the years, we’ve watched them grow, mature, and develop into confident leaders and role models for our younger Scouts. They’ve learned a great deal, achieved much, and consistently set a great example of what it means to live by the Scout Oath and Law. Their example, enthusiasm, and character have helped shape the spirit of Pack 196. We are proud of them.

We will also truly miss them — but we are excited to see all they will accomplish in the next chapter of their Scouting journey.

Congrats to all the AOLs and their families!

This week, the Lions and Tigers looked to the skies. We had a perfectly clear night to observe Orion, his dog Canis Major, Gemini, Ta**us, as well as Jupiter. After learning a little about the constellations, the scouts chose their favorite and made an edible version.

Pinewood Derby 2026: Another amazing racing weekend was had by all. A huge shout out to all the leaders of the pack who worked hard to make this memorable event possible. Thank you to the parents who all supported their scouts in helping to create their cars, and congratulations to the scouts for their creativity, their sportsmanship and the fun they had. Seeing these boys cheer for each other and make arm bridges for their friends to walk under as they received awards was so rewarding in itself.
