Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Philadelphia trains and supports volunteers to advance the welfare of children in foster care through effective advocacy. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a national association in the United States that supports and promotes court-appointed advocates for abused or neglected children in order to provide children with a safe and healthy environment in permanent homes. CASA volunteers are not lawyers; they are caring citizens appointed by a Family Court judge to represent the best interests of children in foster care. With the personal attention and care of a CASA volunteer advocate, foster children's needs are met and a brighter future begins.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Jeni's Ice Cream Social! It was wonderful to see some friends and enjoy a great treat - and thank to all who participated has donated $276.79 to support our advocacy work with children in foster care!

You do not need a law degree or a background in social work to become a CASA volunteer.

We welcome people from every culture, profession, and walk of life. While those drawn to education may find the Educational Decision-Maker role especially rewarding, we believe that there is space for CASA in everyone's journey.

So much about a child's life gets decided in a hearing, but from the bench, only part of the story is visible.

A CASA volunteer helps fill in the rest of the narrative. Known as the eyes and ears for the court, they review health and education records, talk with the key people in a young person's world, and hand the judge a fuller, clearer picture, one grounded in who that kid really is.

Every child in foster care is waiting for a safe home where they can finally settle. Our CASA volunteers help move things in that direction.

By making sure a young person actually receives the services they are owed, an advocate can help a case progress faster toward parents, relatives, or an adoptive family. Stability, health, education, and permanency are all connected, and this work touches each one.
