Want to learn some animal facts from The Toledo Zoo? Join us at Ida Rupp Public Library on June 16! Explore the wild and wonderful animals of days gone by, learn about iconic extinct species, and interact with unique biofacts as we compare species of the past and present. This fun experience is open to all ages from children to adults.

Join us on Tuesday, June 2 for one of two shows with Mr. Jeff!

First, he'll be at Main Street Port Clinton Entertainment District at 12 PM, following Story Time. We invite all kiddos and parents to stay after Story Time for the show, or join us as the show starts! Then, at 4 PM he'll be at our Marblehead Peninsula branch.

Mr. Jeff, the super fun musician and teacher, is fun for all ages. His high-energy, interactive live shows combine gross motor movement, social-emotional learning, and a healthy dose of silliness. Don't miss out!

And a reminder to bring your kiddos to Unearth a Story Time this summer! Every Tuesday, 10:30 AM. Our first story time will be at Main Street Port Clinton Entertainment District (with a fun performance from Mr. Jeff after!), the rest of summer will be at Ida Rupp. Plus check out our calendar for story time opportunities at our Marblehead and Put-in-Bay locations.

Calling teens, grades 6-12!

Join us at the Ida Rupp Public Library on June 12 after hours for a fun escape room. In this program, you and your peers are a team of elite archaeologists visiting the archives of museum curator and fellow archaeologist, Dr. Digby, as well as the very rare and valuable artifact in his collection. The visit takes a turn when thieves break into the museum and the doors to the archives are subsequently locked. You and your peers will have exactly 60 minutes to escape the archives, with the museum's prized possession, before the thieves catch you and steal the artifact themselves. Can you navigate the archive's puzzles and save Dr. Digby's museum? Put your problem-solving skills to the test at Archaeological Escape!

Space is limited to 12 participants, registration is required. Sign up by scanning the QR code or going to our website calendar. You can also call the library during open hours at 419-732-3212.

Teens *must* be dropped off and picked up at the library. Guardians will need to come into the library and sign a permission slip at drop off. Pick up will be at our Madison St. door. Two librarians will be running the program and monitoring the duration of the program. Please see our calendar for more information.

Calling all artists!

Our Ida Rupp location in Port Clinton will be hosting an all ages art show throughout our Summer Reading event to celebrate America 250.

Create a piece to represent America the Beautiful. Use any media (paint, sculpture, writing, fiber arts, etc.) to achieve your vision. Pieces must fit with a 2ft by 2ft dimension and follow library rules and regulations.

We will have different weeks all leading up to the announcement of our winners. The weeks are as follows:

Week 1, June 1-5: Grab & Go Week, an optional week to pick up a small grab bag of supplies. Bags will be available while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis. 1 bag per person.

Week 2, June 22-26: Drop Off Week, bring your creation to the front desk at Ida Rupp. You must register your piece in person.

Week 3, June 29 - July 10: Voting, Each of our entries will be on display in the library for all patrons to vote on. Vote for your favorite in each age group: children, teens, and adults.

Winners will be announced on July 13. Visit our website calendar or pick up a Summer Reading Guide at the library for more information.

Make sure to join us at one of our locations this Saturday, May 30, for our Summer Reading kick off!

All three locations will have their own events planned. Register for the challenge on Beanstack, pick up your registration and early registration prizes, and learn about all the fun programs we have coming up this summer!

Ida Rupp will have their event from 11 AM - 2 PM; Marblehead and Erie Islands will be during their open hours, 10 AM - 2 PM.
