📣Exciting news, North Kitsap! The new North Kitsap Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is opening on Wednesday, November 4, 2026!

Location: 23300 Arness Creek RD NE, Poulsbo, WA
Hours (year-round): Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents can drop off their unwanted chemicals, batteries, paint, aerosols, automotive products, and more at the facility for FREE!

Come join us this Thursday for a deeper discussion of the Rural Lands Analysis data and existing conditions, while exploring how different future scenarios could affect rural lands and resource-based activities.

This registration-required workshop offers smaller, topic-specific explorations (development, forestry, agriculture, and salmon recovery) of future scenarios. Each topic group will highlight key discussion points, areas of alignment or tension, and questions or considerations for the next phase of the analysis.

All are welcome at the next Kitsap County Board of Commissioners regular meeting on Monday, October 26 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format: in person in the Commissioners’ Chambers at the County Administration Building (619 Division Street, Port Orchard) and online via Zoom.

The Board will consider appointments to the Kingston Community Advisory Council and the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council.

It’s a busy month for proclamations. The Board will approve resolutions:
☑️Declaring October 28 as National Public Works First Responder Day
☑️Honoring Operation Green Light for Veterans
☑️Recognizing November as a month of awareness for men's health issues
☑️Recognizing November as Native American Heritage Month

Several public hearings are also scheduled, including a right‑of‑way vacation, an amendment to the 2026 budget, grant funding recommendations, an administrative code update to Title 16, and a continuation of the stormwater rates hearing.

South Kitsap Travel Advisory: Paving on SE Olympiad Drive and SE Southworth Drive

Contractor crews are scheduled to pave SE Olympiad Drive and a portion of SE Southworth Drive Wednesday, October 21, through Friday, October 23, weather permitting. This work is part of the Harper Estuary Barrier Correction Project.

Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Drivers should expect traffic delays on SE Southworth Drive while crews complete paving work. Ferry-bound traffic will be prioritized to help minimize impacts to ferry travelers. Please allow extra time, follow flagger directions, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
