We are sorry to announce that the 2026 edition of the Sweet Rides & Sauerkraut car show has been canceled. Due to unforeseen scheduling and logistical issues, including construction complications at Spring Creek Elementary School, the committee was unable to put the show together to its usual standard. Rather than produce a lower-quality experience, we have decided to take a break for this year.

This was a difficult decision to make, and we hope everyone understands. This is not a permanent cancelation, just a short hiatus. We’ll be back for 2027!

Cache County decided to tackle chip sealing on County Road 238—better known to Providence residents as 200 West, turning into Main Street in Millville. Work started in Nibley yesterday, working their way north. They will likely be working in Providence Wednesday and/or Thursday. Please be patient and mind all signage along this route.

This work will go over all crosswalk paint, so please be extra cautious in these areas and watch for pedestrians. Crosswalks will not be repainted for 2-4 weeks.

We are excited to announce that Providence City Fiber has made its 2,000th connection! Melanie Johnson (and cute Charlie!) was lucky number 2,000 and we have partnered with Advanced Stream Broadband Internet to cover the costs of her first year of fiber internet.

Thank you to all of you who have gotten on board and supported the city-wide fiber project! We know it seemed like a big thing to tackle early on, but at this point, 75% of projected connections have been made—a huge take rate for this kind of project!

We love seeing the Providence Youth Council out in the community! Last weekend, a group spent their Saturday morning volunteering at the Top of Utah Half Marathon. Best hydration specialists we've ever seen!

Let's talk crosswalks! School is in session, and we want to keep kids (and all pedestrians!) safe.

🚸 Be sure to swipe for an outline of all school crosswalks with crossing guards and their schedules. Please pay extra attention at these times and follow posted speed limits, lights and guard activity.

🚸 Parallel/Standard Crosswalks are made of two parallel lines to show where a pedestrian should walk. Vehicles may pass through the crosswalk once the pedestrian is at least halfway through. You will see these in areas of high foot traffic and at four-way stops. Drivers and pedestrians should make eye contact to be sure everyone is aware of each other.

🚸 Ladder/Zebra Crosswalks have striped lines to provide more visibility in school zones and areas with high traffic volume. Drivers must wait until the pedestrian is completely out of the crosswalk before continuing through (not just during school crossing hours!).

🚸 Crosswalks will have paint refreshed, and areas of town that were chip sealed this summer will have striping done as soon as the company we are contracted with makes it to Providence.

Have a wonderful school year!

With Spring Creek changing from a middle school to an elementary this year, you will notice a few traffic changes (like the four-way stop we talked about yesterday).

💡Pedestrian-activated crosswalk lights have been added at Center Street/200 West
🛑 There will also be a crossing guard at that intersection this school year for kids attending both Spring Creek and Providence elementaries. A guard will be present from 8-9 a.m., then from 2:55-4 p.m.
🚧Work is also underway to have crosswalk lights ready by Tuesday at 100 North/300 West, and later this fall at Fuhriman Drive/200 West

We love having so many kids walking/biking to school, but want them to do so safely! Please pay attention to signs, crossing guards and pedestrians to help keep our community safe.
