June and July were a whirlwind of growth, fun, and appreciation! Here's what’s been happening in our community the past couple of months…
--Thank you GalaxyCon Raleigh for donating tickets for our clients to attend the convention in July. They had a BLAST!
--Teen Programs summer internships have been going great! This summer, we have nearly 30 youth developing professional skills at a variety of different businesses and organizations. Pictured here are the two that matched with our Drone Kids Flight Academy host site in Durham. They monitor campers, develop summer activities, and ensure fun and safety.
--Last week we attended a Raleigh Cooperating Colleges professional development conference in Raleigh Union Station where we were able to share information about our programs and ways to get involved with some wonderful people. Thank you for having us!
--Food Equity Collaborative offers monthly programming to our Transition Programs clients at Hope Village at Method in their “Kitchen Compass” series. Our young adults transitioning out of foster care have learned so much about nutritious food shopping and prep. Some of the attendees are parenting, so the knowledge and skills gleaned are multigenerational!
--Our July life skills male group focused on sexual health and we love these client responses to the question “What makes a healthy relationship?”.
--Durham American Red Cross organized a “Christmas in July” drive to restock our depleted client food pantry and hygiene product supply. Thank you Durham American Red Cross!
--Pictured with Rachel and Daniel from Turnkey Residential Sales, Leasing & Property Management, our Transition Programs client Tyler Magna gave an inspiring speech at the ribbon cutting for our new 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom emergency housing condo for young men aging out of foster care. Thank you Turnkey Residential Sales, Leasing & Property Management, Mungo Homes, A.J. Fletcher Foundation, RRAR Realtor Giving Network, and The Gipson Family Foundation for making this happen!
--In June, we celebrated 4 impressive young people on their graduation from our case management program.
--Also in June, A Lotta Love changed lives at Hope Village at Method with their trauma informed design of our residents’ apartments. Thank you, A Lotta Love!
