River Falls Public Library

River Falls Public Library Enriches lives and builds community by connecting people with info, ideas, spaces and opportunities.

In 1907, a library fund was started for books and periodicals by the Tuesday Club of River Falls. Finally, on May 21, 1923, the River Falls Library Association was organized and on June 28th, the library was opened. By 1995, the library had grown from a few to over 50,000 books, plus 3,500 paperbacks, 112 periodicals, 12 newspapers, and music cassettes and CDs, audiobooks, videos, phone directorie

s, pamphlet files, reference books, and software for the IBM computers. There was an excellent collection of large print books along with videos including classics, musicals, children’s, instructional, travel, and entertainment. Today, the library and its lower level community gallery have become a hub for the people of River Falls. The RFPL was named “Library of the Year” in 2015-2016 by the Wisconsin Library Association for its devotion to meeting the needs of its service population via programs, collections, and a strong commitment to customer service.
