ARREST MADE IN BANK ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Thursday, August 27, 2026, at approximately 1:54 p.m., the Riverside Police Department Communications Center received a report of a robbery at the Bank of America located at 10297 Magnolia Avenue in the City of Riverside.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a man entered the bank and presented an employee with a note demanding money. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival.

Patrol officers initiated the investigation and were assisted by detectives from the Robbery/Homicide Unit and Riverside Police Department forensic specialists, who processed the scene and collected evidence.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect believed to be responsible for the robbery. At approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the West Post Release Accountability and Compliance Team located the suspect and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Pierce Street and La Sierra Avenue.

During the investigation, additional evidence related to the robbery was located, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as Myles Johnson, a 39-year-old Riverside resident. Johnson was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of robbery. He is currently being held on $30,000 bail.

MAJOR INJURY E-SCOOTER AND E-MOTO TRAFFIC COLLISION

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at about 7:46 p.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received reports of a traffic collision involving two bikes at the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Mitchell Avenue. Riverside Police officers responded along with the Riverside Fire Department and located two 14-year-old juveniles that were riding an e-scooter, and an e-moto had been struck by a vehicle, both juveniles were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed an 88-year-old male driver of a silver Lexus was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue and struck the two juveniles near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Mitchell Avenue. The two juveniles, riding an E-Scooter and an E-Moto, were traveling southbound on Mitchell Avenue and were attempting to cross the intersection. It is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

“Whenever a collision involves a vehicle and riders, the potential for serious injury is significant,” said Traffic Bureau Sergeant Tim Jensen. “We urge everyone, regardless of how they are traveling, to follow the rules of the road, remain alert to their surroundings, and use caution when entering an intersection. Taking a few extra seconds to make sure you are traveling safely can help prevent a devasting collision.”

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Due to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and E-Bikes, both eastbound and westbound lanes of Arlington Avenue between Sandy Lane and Stover Avenue are currently closed. Both northbound and southbound lanes on Mitchell Avenue at the intersection of Arlington Avenue are also closed. The closure is expected to remain in place for an extended amount of time.

Six years ago today, we lost our friend and colleague, Riverside Police Detective Aaron Brandt, to cancer.

Aaron was an outstanding leader in the bomb technician community and a highly skilled detective. But beyond his accomplishments as a law enforcement officer, what stood out most was the kind of person he was a loving husband, devoted father, loyal friend, and someone who made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Aaron is deeply missed, but his memory lives on through the people he touched, the lives he impacted, and the example he left behind.

Today, and every day, we remember Aaron and hold him and his family close in our hearts.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”

Gone, but never forgotten. 💙

MULTI-AGENCY OPERATION ADDRESSES ILLEGAL ENCAMPMENTS ALONG RAILROAD PROPERTY

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Riverside Public Safety and Engagement Team (PSET), Riverside Police Department, Riverside Code Enforcement, Riverside County Probation, Riverside County Department of Animal Services, BNSF Police, Parks and Neighborhood Specialists, Community Behavioral Health Assessment Team (CBAT), and BNSF contractors participated in a coordinated special enforcement operation along BNSF railroad property east of Van Buren Boulevard and Rudicill Street.

During the operation, personnel contacted six adult males and three adult females who were unlawfully occupying the railroad property. Following the investigation, eight individuals were taken into custody by Riverside Police Department officers for various violations, including illegal camping on railroad property, outstanding warrants, probation violations, and trespassing.

One of the women contacted during the operation was determined to be gravely disabled following an evaluation by a CBAT clinician. She was placed on a mental health hold and transported to an Emergency Treatment Services facility for crisis intervention and treatment.

After the enforcement portion of the operation was completed, BNSF contractors entered the property and conducted a comprehensive cleanup and abatement of the railroad right-of-way. Encampment-related materials, abandoned property, trash, rubbish, debris, and other miscellaneous items were removed from the area, restoring the property to a clean and safer condition.

These coordinated operations are a collaborative effort among multiple local, county, and railroad agencies working together to address illegal encampments, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life for Riverside residents. Through continued partnerships and coordinated enforcement and outreach efforts, the agencies involved remain committed to maintaining safe, clean, and accessible areas throughout the community.

DETECTIVES SEEK PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN SEXUAL ABUSE INVESTIGATION

RIVERSIDE, CA – On September 24, 2025, detectives assigned to the Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault/Child Abuse (SACA) Unit began investigating a report of historical sexual abuse involving a child victim.

During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify three additional victims. The incidents of sexual abuse occurred approximately 24 years ago when the victims were children living at a residence in the 600 block of Highlander Dr in Riverside, as well as various locations in the City of Moreno Valley.

The suspect was identified as 68-year-old Edward Sepulveda, a resident of Moreno Valley. Investigators learned that Sepulveda was a foster parent and fostered approximately 90 children over the years.

On July 17, 2026, Edward Sepulveda was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on multiple felony sexual abuse charges. He remains in custody, and bail was set at one million dollars.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims or individuals with information related to this investigation.
