Our first G.O.A.T. Award of the 2026-2027 school year goes to Rochester Mayo High School science teacher, Blake Julian!
Mr. Julian was nominated by staff and students for his commitment to inclusion, dedication to student success, and continued enthusiasm and energy.
"Mr. Julian deserves to be recognized as the G.O.A.T. because he consistently goes above and beyond for his students. No matter how challenging or dull the material may seem, he always brings energy and dedication to every lesson. Even on difficult days, he refuses to let negativity show—he inspires us, keeps us engaged, and proves that great teaching can make any topic meaningful. Mr. Julian is not just a teacher, he is a role model whose commitment and positivity set him apart from everyone else."

Today, 38 students from Bamber Valley Elementary and Gage Elementary joined forces at the Edison Building to collaborate and get trained in being a Reading Mentor for younger students. These students will be mentoring Kindergarten students for about 10 minutes every single day before school starts.

The students heard from a couple of Keynote Mentors in the community, including Adrianna Cordell, who was once a Reading Mentor herself and is now a teacher in the district. Abdi "Axe" Ahmed also came in to discuss leadership and opportunities to make a difference for the students.

Students worked hard during training because they know they have an important role in mentoring younger students and providing opportunities for them to succeed.
