As approved by the board on 8/11/2026, Town Hall will be CLOSED to the public every Wednesday, starting today, 8/19/2026.

Office staff will be in the office but using that time to focus uninterrupted, on administrative duties and work directly with various state support services regarding the financial conditions of the town.

Non-emergency concerns and payment transactions will be addressed on the following business day.

High Country Council of Governments is now accepting applications for assistance for urgent home repairs up to $15,000.00 for qualifying residents in Wilkes County.

Friendly reminder for GFL customers within city-limits - Regular bags of household trash are the ONLY items to be placed inside your garbage toter. Grass clippings, construction items (wood, siding, etc.) these items will NOT be picked up by GFL.
