On September 15, 2026, Michael Jones was convicted by a jury of 16 counts of child s*xual assault. Aggravating factors of substantial s*xual conduct and multiple victims were also found true.

When the first victim was 11 to 13 years old, Michael Jones committed hundreds of s*xual acts against her, including in*******se and so**my. Jones initially began by grooming the victim and quickly progressed his conduct. When the victim disclosed the abuse, Jones fled and remained hidden from law enforcement for seven years. During this time, Jones began s*xually assaulting another child when she was 9 years old.

Jones faces a maximum sentence of 650 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 15, 2026, at 10 AM in Department 12D before the Honorable Kenneth Brody.

On September 16, 2026, Ismael Ramos was convicted by a jury of two counts of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and making terrorist threats. The jury also found true great bodily injury allegations and a use of a deadly weapon allegation.

Ismael Ramos punched his partner in the face and strangled her with his hands twice until she lost consciousness both times. He then cut her face with a pocketknife and threatened to kill her then take his own life. The victim was able to calm Ramos down and escape to alert a neighbor to call the police. Responding officers detained Ramos and documented the victim’s injuries, which included bruising to her neck, cuts around her face, and a missing tooth.

Myahl Chapman-Joseph was convicted by a jury of eight counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. The jury also found true that he personally used a firearm during the robberies. His father, Deleon Joseph, was convicted of one count of robbery with the allegation that he was armed with a firearm during the robbery found true. The jurors further found true aggravating factors that the crimes involved planning, professionalism, or sophistication; and that Chapman-Joseph was armed with a weapon.

Parole DENIED.
Luis Savaria, a child predator who became eligible for early release consideration under California’s Elder Parole Law, will remain in custody following a five-year parole denial by the California Board of Parole Hearings.
Our office opposed his release and advocated for the continued protection of our community. Today’s decision provides five more years before Savaria can again be considered for parole.

On September 4, 2026, Owen Cruz was convicted by a jury of murder, felony driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs with injury, felony driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs with a .08% BA or above, felony hit and run causing death or permanent serious injury, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs with a .08% BA or above. The jury also found true great bodily injury and multi victim enhancements.

Luis Saravia, a repeat s*x offender, is scheduled for a parole hearing on September 9, 2026, and may be eligible for release under California’s Elder Parole laws.

AB 2727 would strengthen California’s elder parole standards, ensuring that those who continue to pose a risk to the community remain in custody longer.

AB 2727 is currently awaiting the Governor’s signature.
