Here are our final World Cup numbers. Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara hosted six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches: five group-stage matches and one Round of 32 match.

But it wasn't all fun and games.

Our Santa Clara County Human Trafficking Task Force in conjunction with he Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, during the course of those matches, officers rescued 53 survivors, including 11 children, arrested 25 offenders and 41 people for soliciting.

I am proud that Santa Clara County showcased itself to the world so well and so safely, and with one voice declared our intolerance for the illegal trafficking of human beings.

Following George Floyd’s murder, my office committed to expanding criminal justice reform. One result was the Bend the Arc Community Grant Program, which redirects money seized from gangs, drug traffickers, and other criminal organizations to local groups working to reduce racial inequity, strengthen marginalized communities, and prevent crime. In short, it returns criminal proceeds to communities harmed by crime.

I was honored to be interviewed by attorney Wendy Patrick of the Prosecutors' Center for Excellence about my Office's innovative Bureau of Investigation.

The Bureau's specialized investigative units include the Person Crimes Division, Major Fraud Division, Insurance Fraud Division, the Regional Enforcement Allied Computer Team (REACT), which investigates high-tech and cybercrime, the Santa Clara County Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Trial Preparation Division.

I am especially proud of our Gun Violence Task Force, whose work saves lives by removing fi****ms from individuals legally prohibited from possessing them and preventing acts of gun violence before they happen. (Full interview in comments)

Bryan Stevenson is a righteous voice who speaks with moral clarity and conviction. He has a unique ability to remind us that America's greatness lies in our capacity to transcend our past—no matter how difficult our history—and to embrace the enduring promise at the heart of our nation's founding: that "all are created equal" and entitled to equal justice under the rule of law.

As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation, his words offer something for all of us to contemplate.

I am honored to call Bryan a friend and a kindred spirit, united by a shared belief in justice, human dignity, and the enduring promise of America.

On America’s 250th anniversary, Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights lawyer and the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, looks toward the work that is ahead for the country.

“We can’t save Baby Jaxon. We can save the next innocent child. Terminations, resignations, and making the systemic changes that will protect our most vulnerable kids all have to happen. I can’t think of a higher priority than the safety of our children. There is more work to be done."

The potential firings in Jaxon’s case mark the first time employees of the department are being held accountable for three child deaths since 2023.

The San Jose Police Department is working amount the clock to arrest the perpetrators of this terrible crime. Once that happens will hold them fully accountable. We pray the victims will recover.

A man and woman were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after gunfire in the parking lot of a medical complex on Cottle Road, police say.
