Washington Elementary Early Kinder - 6th Grade

An elementary school where Project Based Learning -Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) guides student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. To meet the growing needs of a dynamic downtown area on the move, Washington Elementary School is your neighborhood school with a focus on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). Education researchers

are finding that by integrating the arts into core subjects students learn to be more creative, more innovative and better problem solvers. Art and design also pair well with science, engineering and technology as similar thinking skills are needed to plan and construct complex projects across disciplines. With its convenient location in Sacramento’s emerging cultural center, Washington Elementary School is primed to tap into Sacramento’s “creative class” of artists and families that live and/or work in the city’s urban center.

Having our graduating high school seniors back to walk the campus to thunderous applause then staying for a Q&A with 6th grade, is a reminder that it takes a village and that our community is a beautiful place.
