Student leaders representing NUSD high schools convened on Thursday for the first session of the 2026-27 Student Voices Advisory Council (SVAC). During the meeting, council members connected with Superintendent Dr. Robyn Castillo to share perspectives on district priorities.

Throughout the school year, SVAC members provide direct feedback to district leaders, mentor younger students through the 8th Grade Roadshow and Reading Buddies series, and support major district events to help shape their schools and community.

Thank you to our community partner, the Natomas Chamber of Commerce, for its generous $10,000 donation to Natomas Unified! This funding directly supports NUSD’s annual Youth Workforce program.

Youth Workforce is a weeklong summer program that teaches scholars how to dress for success, build a professional resume, and complete mock interviews for their targeted career pathways.

Natomas Unified brought the love of reading to the community this past Saturday at the Natomas Farmers Market, hosted by City Councilmember Lisa Kaplan. A special thank you to Inderkum High School students Alena and Hoorain for distributing free books and literacy materials to local families on behalf of NUSD.

Kay from CAFE (NUSD’s Communications and Family Engagement Department) stopped by Mrs. Beretta’s first grade class to drop off special thank you tokens on behalf of NUSD. The class had been featured in Natomas Unified’s National Hispanic Heritage Month Read Aloud video.

Each bag contained the featured book of the month, Adela's Mariachi Band, along with activity guides, a bookmark, and additional learning resources to help students and families enjoy the story together at home.
