Daniel is one of the many drivers behind Meals on Wheels San Francisco.

Each day, he delivers meals. He also delivers something less visible and just as important. Connection.

A short visit at the door becomes a moment of conversation, a familiar routine, and a simple way to make sure someone is doing okay. For many seniors, that interaction is one of the only touchpoints they have that day. That is our mission in motion.

When Jennifer Steele stepped into her role at Meals on Wheels San Francisco, she made a commitment to do more than deliver meals. She made a commitment to safeguard dignity, connection, and independence for older adults aging in place across our community.

This week, local legend Steve Young recognized that work by naming Jennifer his Hero of the Week on the Forever Young Foundation segment on KNBR. The honor speaks to the power of supporting seniors who often live alone, face food insecurity, or struggle with the daily tasks most of us take for granted.
