This Pride Month, we're recognizing LYRIC's LGBTQQ+ Youth Access Point and its work supporting LGBTQ+ young people in San Francisco.

LYRIC helps LGBTQ+ youth build community, develop leadership skills, access education and career opportunities, and strengthen their health and well-being. Through affirming services and support, LYRIC helps young people navigate challenges and build brighter futures.

For many LGBTQ+ youth experiencing housing instability or homelessness, having a safe and welcoming place to access support can make a meaningful difference.
Thank you to LYRIC for helping create opportunities, connections, and pathways forward for LGBTQ+ youth.

Need help accessing services? The 85th Project Homeless Connect SF Community Day of Service is coming to San Francisco on Wednesday, June 17.

This free, one-day event connects people experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or in need of assistance with housing support, benefits enrollment, medical care, legal assistance, DMV services, veteran services, showers and laundry, and more.

What happens when someone who has experienced homelessness gets the support, training, and opportunity to build a career helping others?

The San Francisco Examiner recently shared the story of Aniyah Lacey, who connected to housing through San Francisco's homelessness response system and now works at Episcopal Community Services helping others secure employment and maintain housing.

Her journey highlights the power of lived experience, workforce development, and the nonprofit partners working every day to support lasting stability.

Last week, the Homelessness Oversight Commission recognized Executive Director Shireen McSpadden during her final Commission meeting before her retirement on June 30.

For 23 years, Shireen has served the City and County of San Francisco with dedication, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to supporting our most vulnerable residents. Her leadership has helped shape San Francisco’s homelessness response system and advance efforts to connect thousands of people to housing, shelter, and critical services.

Thank you, Shireen, for your service, partnership, and lasting impact on our city. We wish you all the best in your retirement.

This Pride Month, we're highlighting the SF LGBT Center Access Point, a vital resource connecting LGBTQ+ community members with housing support, essential services, and opportunities to build community.

The SF LGBT Center's youth programs support LGBTQ+ young people ages 16–24 through community-building, crisis intervention, housing navigation, mental health services, educational workshops, and access to food and hygiene supplies.

They're also kicking off Pride season with Building The Block: Rainbow Reunion, a free, family-friendly community celebration featuring live performances, local vendors, wellness activities, community resources, food, art, and more.

Yesterday, we celebrated the opening of 1633 Valencia, a new affordable housing community for formerly homeless seniors in San Francisco's Mission District.

This new community of 145 new affordable homes, was completed in just 19 months and provides stable housing for older adults referred through HSH's Housing Ladder Program and the Mission Action Access Point. Residents also have access to onsite supportive services provided by Felton Institute.

The project demonstrates how innovative partnerships and new approaches to housing development can help create affordable homes more quickly while maintaining high-quality housing for residents.

Thank you to Mercy Housing California, the Housing Accelerator Fund, Mayor Daniel Lurie, Felton Institute, and the many partners who helped make this project possible.

At the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, we are committed to supporting a homelessness response system that helps connect people experiencing homelessness with shelter, housing, and services. Throughout Pride Month, we'll be highlighting programs and partners that provide affirming support and pathways to stability for LGBTQ+ community members in San Francisco.

What does supportive housing mean to the young people who call Casa Colibrí home?

Located in San Francisco's Outer Mission, Casa Colibrí serves transition-age youth and is operated through a partnership between Mission Action, Larkin Street Youth Services, and HSH.
