🚨Murder Suspect Arrested During Joint Operation🚨

On August 24, 2026, the Sandy Springs Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit assisted the FBI Violent Crimes Unit in locating and apprehending two wanted individuals in Sandy Springs.

One individual was wanted by the Atlanta Police Department in connection with a homicide and multiple aggravated assault offenses. He was taken into custody and transported to Atlanta Police Department for investigators.

A second individual, who was wanted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for multiple weapons-related offenses, was also taken into custody and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

We appreciate the continued partnership between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in keeping our communities safe.

On Saturday, August 22, members of the Sandy Springs Police Department, both sworn and non-sworn, came together to participate in a 5K in memory of Officer Jeremy Labonte of the Roswell Police Department.

This was more than just a race. It was a meaningful opportunity to honor Officer Labonte’s service and sacrifice, support his colleagues and loved ones, and come together as a law enforcement family.

We are proud of the members of our department who showed up to run, walk, and support this important cause. While we may serve different communities, we stand together in moments like these to remember one of our own.

Officer Labonte’s service will not be forgotten. 💙

Our sweet Skye is hard at work in her Puppy Head Start training with the incredible trainers at Rucker Dog Training!

Skye is part of Warrior Paws’ Canine Companion Program and is preparing for a very special future with the Sandy Springs Police Department, where she’ll support their Victim Advocacy Program. 💙🐾

Right now, it’s all about building a strong foundation—learning her basic skills, good manners, confidence, focus, and of course, how to be the very best girl. ❤️

She may still be a puppy, but every training session is another step toward the important work ahead of her.

We can’t wait to keep sharing Skye’s journey with you. Big things ahead for this little girl! 🐾

🚨Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest After Pursuit🚨

On August 22, 2026, our officer conducted a traffic stop involving a white Mazda on Roswell Road near Sandy Springs Circle. The driver, identified as Peter Wetche, initially stopped near Johnson Ferry Road and Sandy Springs Circle.

As our officer approached the vehicle, Wetche fled the traffic stop, resulting in a pursuit. During the pursuit, our officer safely ended the pursuit by performing a successful PIT maneuver. Wetche was taken into custody without further incident.

Wetche was charged with Fleeing and Eluding and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.

The Sandy Springs Police Department will not tolerate individuals who flee from law enforcement or disregard the law. Our officers will continue to take appropriate action to protect the safety of our community.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Gordon and the Sandy Springs Police Foundation for their incredibly generous support of the Sandy Springs Police K-9 Unit.

Dr. Gordon generously donated half of the funds needed to purchase two K-9 protective vests, while the Sandy Springs Police Foundation provided the remaining funds to purchase two additional vests. Thanks to their combined generosity, all four of our K-9s can now be equipped with protective vests.

We are truly grateful for their commitment to the safety and well-being of our K-9s and the officers who work alongside them. Their generosity and support of our K-9 Unit are deeply appreciated.

Thank you, Dr. Gordon and the Sandy Springs Police Foundation, for standing behind our K-9s and helping keep them protected as they serve our community!

🚨Stay Safe on the Chattahoochee River 🌊🚨

The Sandy Springs Police Department wants to remind everyone to use extra caution while enjoying the Chattahoochee River.

This past weekend, our River Patrol Unit responded to three separate water rescues. While the river can be a great place to enjoy the outdoors, changing water conditions, currents, slippery rocks, and other hazards can quickly turn a fun day into an emergency.

Before heading out on the river:

• Wear a properly fitted life jacket, especially when boating, tubing, or swimming.

• Know your surroundings and be aware of changing water conditions.

• Never underestimate the river’s current.

• Avoid alcohol or anything that could impair your judgment while on or near the water.

• Keep an eye on children and stay with your group.

• If you’re tubing or boating, make sure you have the appropriate safety equipment.

Our River Patrol Unit is here to help keep our community safe, but prevention starts with each of us.

Please enjoy the Chattahoochee River responsibly and help us make sure everyone gets home safely. Stay alert, stay prepared, and stay safe!

🚨 SSPD Seeks Additional Information Following Sexual Battery Arrest

On August 13, 2026, the Sandy Springs Police Department arrested Michael Decker, an employee of Massage and Medspa Solutions, and charged him with Sexual Battery following a complaint received on August 11 regarding inappropriate contact during a massage.

During the investigation, SSPD also identified licensing and permitting violations at the business, which was subsequently shut down.

SSPD is asking anyone who has had similar dealings with Decker and believes they may have experienced inappropriate or unwanted contact to contact Detective Nanoff at [email protected] or 770-551-6923.

The Sandy Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual pictured above, who is WANTED in connection with a Sexual Battery investigation.

The photos show two versions of the same image. The photo on the right was obtained from a store’s security camera. The photo on the left is the same image that was enhanced by a professional image-enhancement company to provide a clearer view.
