UF IFAS Extension Seminole County 4-H

UF IFAS Extension Seminole County 4-H Seminole County 4-H is a youth development program in partnership with Seminole County Government and University of Florida IFAS Extension.

In 4-H, youth explore their “sparks” and interests through fun, hands-on learning guided by 4-H volunteers. In 4-H we inspire kids to do through hands-on learning experiences guided by 4-H mentors in a safe and inclusive environment. Youth 5 - 18 years of age (as of September 1, 2021) may participate in 4-H clubs, camps, day camps, educational events, and career & leadership opportunities. 4-H Cl

ubs are led by adult volunteers with meeting times and locations varied. 4-H members have the opportunity to participate in community clubs where they gain a specific skill set in a 4-H project, such as areas of leadership, community service, animal and plant science, food preparation, performing arts, and more. 🐝BUZZING INTO BEEKEEPING: We created quite a buzz at our recent 4-H Buzz Into Beekeeping workshops! Teens and youth teens dove into the fascinating world of bees, insects, and science through hands-on learning and exploration.

From discovering the important role pollinators play in our environment to learning the basics of beekeeping, participants gained valuable knowledge and skills while having fun. Along the way, they strengthened their observation and problem solving skills, while building confidence.

We loved seeing so much curiosity, enthusiasm, and excitement as our future beekeepers and scientists explored the incredible world of pollinators.

🔥 4-H TAILGATING WORKSHOP: Ready to put your grilling skills to the test? Kids and teens are invited to join the 4-H Tailgating Contest for a hands-on opportunity to learn the art of outdoor cooking while building valuable life skills.

Participants will experience the excitement of tailgating firsthand in this interactive workshop.

MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE 🇺🇸 UF/IFAS Extension Services Seminole County 4-H will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE: Seminole County business offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day, and will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

The Central Transfer Station and County landfill will remain open, and residential waste collection services will not be affected. However, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) tunnel at the Central Transfer Station and Solid Waste customer service operations will be closed.

The Seminole County Library, Animal Services, Museum of Seminole County History and Extension Services will also be closed on Monday, May 25.

Seminole County parks will remain open but unsupervised, with limited courts and fields available at no charge. Parks will close at 8 p.m.

🐝4-H BUZZ INTO BEEKEEPING: Know youth between the ages of 9 and 12? Registration for the Buzz Into Beekeeping workshop, taking place on June 1, has been extended until May 21.

This fun, beginner-friendly beekeeping workshop introduces attendees to the amazing world of honeybees and why they are important to nature. Participants will learn about bee homes, how bees behave, and how beekeepers stay safe through engaging, hands-on activities.
