Time Travel Tuesday:

Scranton Public Library is happy to announce that we received a Scranton Area Community Foundation grant in the fall of 2024 to scan the Abington Journal. We have completed and uploaded the newspaper from November 1961-December 1973. We are happy to announce that this collection is available digitally from anywhere in the world, and is fully searchable for quick and easy access. Explore new flavors and recipes with this month’s featured spice, cumin! Pick up a kit to receive a sample of our spice and a selection of recipes to try. Kits will be available at the Circulation Desk starting September 8th and will be available while supplies last. (limit of 2 kits per card per month).

Time Travel Tuesday!
The Reference Department decided to take a look back at past Time Travel Tuesdays to see what we could find. The first is a classified from May 9, 1900 warning whoever stole a cactus to return it before "further trouble could be made." We are still wondering if it was ever returned. The second ad is for Williams' Butter-Nut Bread that was published on May 24, 1920. The happy smiling family with their loaf of bread on the top of the ad compared to the almost sinister smiling slice of bread amuses us.
