It is now too late to mail your ballot if you want to be sure your vote will be counted for the August 4th Primary Election, unless you get it hand-postmarked in the Post Office. I asked at the Shelton post office to confirm this, and was told that they now send all mail to the Tacoma sorting facility, and mail is not postmarked until it leaves that facility, which could be 8 days or longer! Even first-class mail. They said you can go directly to a teller with your ballot to be hand-stamped, so if you decide to mail it, show your ballot, and you shouldn’t have to wait in the regular line if it’s long. But the best way now is simply using a Ballot Drop box, or hand deliver to the Elections Vote Center (411 N 5th St, Shelton, back entrance).
Here is a link to the League of Women Voter’s site which has very good information about local Ballot Box locations and hours, ballot tracking, and other urgent voting rights issues.
