NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On June 19th at about 10:30 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 block of Janus Street, regarding a call of subject with a gun that had just assaulted a family member. While officers were enroute, police receive reports that the suspect, identified as Zachery Greer, fired a gun before departing the residence.
Officers located Greer near Rainbow Drive and West “D” Street, but he was non-compliant with officers, and fled south, into the Willamette River. As officers continued to engage Greer, he pointed a rifle at the officers and an exchange of gunfire between officers and Greer ensued. No one was struck by the gunfire. Greer floated down the river a short distance but was eventually captured by officers.
