Northeastern WIC

Northeastern WIC Serving Lassen and Modoc County. WIC is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for women, infants, and children.

WIC helps families by providing nutrition education, issuing checks for healthy supplemental foods, and making referrals to healthcare and other community services. Participants must meet income guidelines. Be either pregnant women, new mothers, infants, or children under age five. In California, 84 WIC agencies provide services locally to over 1.3 million participants each month at over 600 sites throughout the state.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated the first week of August around the world.

In honor of this, NRHC and the WIC program will be hosting a World Breastfeeding Week event on Friday August 7th at Memorial Park in Susanville at 10:30. There will be opportunities to connect with local resources, giveaway items, refreshments, kid friendly activities, and information on pregnancy, birth, postpartum, lactation, and parenting. There will also be a dedication area for any parent who has experienced a loss.

adding new foods to give your family more options, more flavors and more flexibility at the store.

You will see new choices like:

We are celebrating all the new ways California WIC helps you bring
fresh, flavorful and healthy foods to your table during National Nutrition Month®!

Starting in mid-April, WIC is offering more fresh options:

You will be able to use your Fruits and Vegetables Benefit to buy
fresh cut herbs like parsley, basil and rosemary.

You can use your WIC Card to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and
herbs at your local farmers’ market year round —not just at the grocery store. Find a WIC approved farmers’ market near you and see your new fruit and vegetable options at MyFamily.WIC.ca.gov

Yogurt just got even better at WIC! Starting in mid-April, you will have more yogurt flavors to choose from including new fruit flavors. Choose from options like mango, peach, blueberry and strawberry-banana. Try these new flavors in your family’s meals. Use them in smoothies, parfaits or as a topping. More options mean you can choose what works best for your family’s taste.
