Nan Gray Davis School was organized in 1965. It is named in honor of Miss Nan Gray Davis. In 1921, she came to teach at Theodore High School. W.

Miss Davis began her career as an elementary teacher in Escambia County. In introducing her to the faculty, Principal F. Breitling, with whom Miss Davis had previously taught, made this prophetic remark, "For serveral years we have had quite a turn over in teacher personnel, but now I think we have a teacher who will stick". And "stick" she did for thirty-five years. When Miss Davis retired in 1958, she continued her passion for teaching, always finding a child to coach, the maid or yardman with an educational problem, a Sunday School class in need of a teacher, or someone upon whom she could bestow the blessing of her teaching. After she was stricken with a heart attack, she taught lessons of patience, courage, hope and faith to those who ministered unto her. The gentle soul of Miss Nan Gray Davis passed away on January 30, 1963. Miss Nan Gray Davis' influence and love of teaching and learning still lives on at Nan Gray Davis.

From preparing nutritious meals to greeting our students with a smile, you play such an important role in helping our Bobcats learn, grow, and succeed!

Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our Nan Gray Davis family. You truly make lunchtime a wonderful experience for our students! 🥰

🍎🎉 ATTENDANCE MATTERS AT NAN GRAY DAVIS! 🍦🐾

Let’s give a BIG round of applause to Ms. Elbin, Ms. Weston, Ms. Gurley, Ms. Thompson, and Ms. Buntin’s classes for successfully completing their attendance trackers! 🎉👏

As a reward for their hard work and dedication to being at school, these students celebrated with a SWEET ICE CREAM PARTY! 🍦🥳 They worked hard, showed up, and earned a well-deserved treat!

📚 Why does attendance matter? Every school day is an opportunity to learn something new, build friendships, develop important skills, and grow academically. When students are at school consistently, they have more opportunities to participate, stay on track with learning, and reach their full potential!

📚 ACAP PRACTICE TESTING BEGINS TOMORROW! ✏️

Tomorrow marks the first day of ACAP practice testing at Nan Gray Davis Elementary! While these are practice assessments, we want our students to take them seriously and give their very best effort. 💪🐾

Parents, please help us prepare our Jr. Bobcats for success by making sure your child:

🌙 Gets a good night’s rest
⏰ Arrives at school on time
🥞 Eats a healthy, filling breakfast
💪 Comes to school ready to focus and do their best!

These practice assessments are an important opportunity for students to become familiar with the testing process and build confidence before the actual ACAP assessments.

What a special day at Nan Gray Davis! ❤️🤍 We loved welcoming our families to campus for Parenting Day and Lunch on the Lawn! There is nothing more special than seeing our students share these moments with the people who love and support them most.

Thank you to all of our parents and family members who took the time to join us, make memories, and be part of our school family. Your partnership means so much to us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to strengthen the connection between home and school.

Wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week!

🔵 Tuesday, October 27 – Team Up for Healthy Choices!
Wear your favorite team jersey or team shirt!

🦸 Wednesday, October 28 – Healthy Choices Are My Superpower!
Dress like a superhero or wear a superhero shirt!

🌈 Thursday, October 29 – My Future Is Too Bright for Drugs!
Wear neon colors or accessories!

📚❤️ Building Bobcats Through the Power of Reading! 💙🐾

We are so excited to share that Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) partnered with Nan Gray Davis Elementary School to provide 200 FREE book kits for our students! 🎉📖

Each student received a bag filled with books to take home and enjoy, helping us encourage a love of reading that extends beyond the classroom. We are so grateful to Reading Is Fundamental for investing in our students and helping us put books into the hands of our young readers! ❤️

At Nan Gray Davis, we believe that every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to discover the joy, imagination, and knowledge that reading brings. Thank you, RIF, for helping our Jr. Bobcats grow one book at a time! 🐾📚

On Tuesday, October 13th, our Nan Gray Davis teachers engaged in Learning Launch, focusing on strengthening instructional practices to support student success! 📚✨

During this collaborative learning experience, our teachers focused on:
🎯 Developing clear learning intentions and success criteria to help students understand what they are learning and how they will demonstrate mastery.
🤝 Collaborating with colleagues to develop effective checks for understanding that provide meaningful feedback and help teachers adjust instruction to meet students’ needs.
