On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a tragedy that changed our history and touched countless lives.

Today, we pause to remember those who lost their lives, honor the first responders and everyday people who showed extraordinary courage, and reflect on the strength found in communities coming together during times of uncertainty.

May we continue to remember, to honor, and to carry forward the values of compassion, service, and community.

On August 28th and 31st, members of our Elections Division team spent time with the Seniors at Kamehameha School, connecting with students about voting, civic participation, and their kuleana as the next generation of voters. 🗳️🌺

Voting is more than casting a ballot. It is an opportunity to have your voice heard, to participate in the decisions that shape our communities, and to help carry Hawaiʻi forward.

We were truly impressed by the preparation and support of the kumus. Haumāna came ready to learn, engaged throughout our presentations, and had the information they needed to take the next step toward registering to vote.

Mahalo to Kumu Kamuela for welcoming us into his classroom for two days, and to Kumu Ching for helping make this outreach possible. Your commitment to preparing haumāna to participate in our democracy is inspiring.

We are grateful to have been welcomed into the classroom and to connect with Hawaiʻi’s future voters. We look forward to continuing this partnership and making this an annual tradition.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Hawaiʻi’s beloved Queen, Liliʻuokalani, a leader whose strength, compassion, and unwavering aloha for her lāhui continue to inspire us more than a century later.

Though her voice was silenced, her aloha was never lost. Her words, her music, and her enduring love for Hawaiʻi remind us that the voice of a people carries power.

May we honor her legacy by using our voices, participating in our democracy, and carrying forward a future where the people of Hawaiʻi are heard, valued, and empowered.

Mahalo to Our Incredible Election Volunteers!

The 2026 Primary Election would not have been possible without the incredible volunteers who showed up, worked long hours, and gave their time to support our community.

From the volunteers at our Voter Service Centers, to our ballot openers, observers, and the many volunteers who supported the Counting Center, each of you played an important role in making our election run smoothly.

You gave your time, energy, and dedication to help ensure that every ballot was handled with care and that our election process remained secure, transparent, and accessible. We could not have done it without you.

To everyone who volunteered: we are truly grateful for you. Your commitment to our community made a difference, and we are so thankful that you chose to be part of the process.

A heartfelt thank you to the Maui Police Department for being there throughout the Primary Election. From our Voter Service Centers to the Counting Center, their officers worked long hours to help keep our staff, volunteers, and voters safe.

We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to supporting a safe and secure election. Your presence gave our team peace of mind and allowed us to focus on serving our community.
