She’s our hero too!

Please join us in congratulating Erin Landry on becoming the newest HiSET Hero!

At our Fall Roadshow, we recognized Erin, who, for over 15 years, has worked to expand opportunity across Louisiana, inspired those around her, and championed the belief that it's never too late to learn, grow, or begin again.

As Louisiana Community & Technical College System's Executive Director of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, Erin has built bridges between colleges, nonprofits, state agencies and national partners, and she has been Louisiana's voice at the national table.

We're honored to present her with the HiSET Hero award for her unwavering dedication, her generous heart, and the countless lives she has changed!

We are so proud to celebrate one of our former graduates, Carla Stevens, and all that she continues to accomplish!

Last night, Carla had the honor of speaking at the LCTC Foundation Impact Awards, where she shared her story and represented the life-changing impact of adult education. The evening became even more special when Carla was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from AT&T to help her continue pursuing her educational goals!

Carla is currently attending Northshore Technical Community College, where she is working toward her associate degree. After graduating from NTCC, she plans to continue her education at Southeastern Louisiana University with the goal of becoming a school counselor.

There is something incredibly special about watching a former Adult Education student not only continue her own education, but choose a career where she can one day encourage and support students of her own.

Carla’s journey is a wonderful reminder that earning your high school equivalency diploma isn’t the end of the story, it can be the beginning of an entirely new one.

Congratulations, Carla! We are so proud of how far you’ve come, and even more excited to see where your journey takes you next. 💙🎓

Today at LPAE, a student who thought he couldn’t….. DID. He graduated and is now able to accept a job promotion that wasn’t available to him without a diploma.

He brought flowers to our office and said, “these are because you changed my life!” 🥹❤️

This is why we do what we do.

LPAE Spring 2026 Graduation ceremony!

07/31/2026

Last night, Livingston Parish Adult Education celebrated our Spring 2026 graduates, and what an incredible night it was! We had our largest graduation ceremony to date, with 38 graduates walking across the stage to receive their High School Equivalency Diplomas.

The highlight of the evening was hearing from our guest speaker, a former graduate who walked across that same stage just one year ago. Her story was powerful, inspiring, and a beautiful reminder of what is possible when someone refuses to give up.

I know I speak for every one of my coworkers when I say what a privilege it is to play even a small part in these life-changing moments. Someone made a comment last night that has really stayed with me: traditional high school students generally expect to graduate. Many of our students come to us believing they never will.

Watching them prove themselves wrong is something I’ll never take for granted.

If you’d like to watch the ceremony, I’ll link the livestream in the comments. It was truly a night to remember, and I’m so proud of every single graduate.

We have started a free little library for our students at Adult Ed. If you have some books laying around collecting dust, drop them off to us!

Reading for pleasure is the best way to increase reading comprehension skills and you can help our students with that!
