It’s National Firefighters Day… and around here, that means celebrating a crew of people who willingly leave warm beds, hot dinners, and perfectly good free time to go deal with… well… fire. 🔥🚒

The Walton Community Fire Department is 100% volunteer—which means these folks aren’t sitting around the station waiting for calls. They’re at work, at ball games, mowing the lawn, halfway through dinner… and then beep—they drop it all and go.

No paycheck big enough to explain it. Just pride, commitment, and maybe a slightly questionable love for adrenaline and strong coffee ☕

Behind every set of gear is someone who chose to serve this community—not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

So today, if you see one of our volunteers, give them a wave, a thank you, or at least don’t burn your dinner tonight… give them a day off 😅

To our Walton Fire family—and the families who share them with the pager—we appreciate you more than words can say.

🚨 Walton - Alert 🚨 From the Town of Walton:

The staff is out flushing hydrants today. Your water may temporarily appear discolored (brown, red, orange, yellow or cloudy/milky) This discoloration is harmless and is caused by sediment and mineral deposits being stirred up in the pipes. Let the water run until it clears.

A joint effort today extinguishing a field fire approximately 15 acres in size. 🔥

High winds combined with dry conditions allowed this fire to spread rapidly. Fortunately, the fire was stopped before damaging any structures or adjoining property. Trucks 84 and 88, Tankers 83 and 87, and Engine 82 responded.

Shoutout to Logansport Professional Firefighters Local 470 and Young America Vol. Fire Dept for the assistance! 🤟
