In 1932, 20,000 WWI veterans marched on Washington. This group of veterans became known as the Bonus Army. They camped out on the National Mall for weeks to pressure Congress to finally deliver the benefits they were owed for their service.
That fight—showing up, organizing, refusing to let veterans' promised benefits get lost in bureaucracy—continues today. That’s why I’m proud to stand by veterans and VSOs today in opposition to H.R. 9237 – the largest cut to veterans’ disability benefits in history.
Veterans have been in this fight for over a century; we must honor the contract and ensure our nation's veterans receive ALL the benefits they are owed.
