Great news for fish! The Skagit River System Cooperative is getting $4.2 million from NOAA to improve fish passage and foster salmon recovery. I will keep working closely with local leaders and Tribes to protect salmon habitats in Northwest Washington.

I hiked to Yudwasta Big Rock in Skagit County with members of the Outdoor Alliance last week. I am fighting against the Trump administration's attempts to open up millions of acres of forests to logging and construction and will keep working to protect Northwest Washington's public lands.

The Lopez Food Center will expand access to affordable food and create jobs for Lopez Islanders. I am glad to have been able to secure $1 million in federal funding to help make Friday's groundbreaking possible, and I will keep working in D.C. to bring home dollars to improve our communities.

The Scriber Creek Trail redevelopment project is complete! You can now walk or bike from Wilcox Park to the Lynnwood Transit Center on a new paved path. I secured over $1.5 million for this project, and I will keep working in D.C. to fund local projects that create jobs and improve transportation.

President Trump’s U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail-in voting rule is an effort to suppress the right to vote. There is no evidence that mail-in ballots result in widespread voter fraud in our elections, no matter what the President claims.

For instance, during a recount of ballots mailed in Whatcom County for last month’s primary, election workers confirmed that 100% of the ballots were counted accurately. Local election officials know how to administer free and fair elections.

I am challenging Trump’s voter suppression efforts. I will keep supporting all efforts to defend Washington’s secure vote-by-mail system and protect the right of every eligible citizen to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted.

Voting by mail would become much more difficult, if not impossible, for tens of millions of Americans if the U.S. Postal Service is allowed to implement a restrictive rule governing mail voting that President Donald Trump has demanded.
