I went to the Ferndale ICE holding facility today to get answers for my community about this facility and how people are treated there. I will be following up with ICE and DHS for more information and to verify the numbers they gave me. Access to the world of books through libraries changes lives. Prison libraries provide incarcerated people with important tools and opportunities for growth, and this bill will study their effectiveness to reinforce the work they do to help incarcerated people return to society successfully.

I visited the Secret Creek Fish Passage project today with WSDOT, Granite Construction and Associated General Contractors of America to discuss how this project will restore five miles of upstream habitat for salmon and provide a wildlife passage beneath I-5 and Highway 99.

Yesterday, I joined the Northwest Straits Commission and Puget Sound Restoration Fund to hear about their work to protect local kelp forests, pinto abalone, Olympia oysters and other marine species. I am glad that my bill to reauthorize the Northwest Straits Commission passed the House and will keep fighting to protect marine life in Northwest Washington.

More uninsured people means higher health care costs for everyone and sicker family members, friends and neighbors. This is the direct result of Republicans' failure to extend the ACA tax credits and their devastating cuts to Medicaid in the Big Ugly Law.

More people who lost coverage after congressional Republicans ended enhanced federal subsidies are now seeking care in emergency rooms and unable to pay bills.

The President must cut the BS and get to work. It is time to negotiate in good faith to enhance and renew USMCA, and fully enforce the provisions of the agreement to help lower prices and create good-paying jobs.

The president has tried and failed to grow the economy through tariffs. What the U.S. economy needs instead are strong, mutually beneficial trade relationships.

People I represent need answers on whether the Coast Guard is prepared to effectively respond to oil spills in light of the increase in oil tanker traffic that the new Alberta to B.C. pipeline will create. I wrote a letter to the Coast Guard pressing for answers and will keep doing everything I can to protect sensitive marine ecosystems in the Salish Sea.

For many Americans, fertility treatments like IVF are essential to start a family. The Right to IVF Act will guarantee access and expand coverage for IVF and other fertility services. I will keep working with my colleagues in the House and the Senate to make sure that women and men in uniform and working families do not have to sacrifice their dreams of having a family.

Today, U.S. Representatives Rick Larsen (WA-02), Lori Trahan (MA-03), James Walkinshaw (VA-11), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and Laura Gillen (NY-04) introduced legislation to codify the right to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other fertility treatments and expand affordable options for families to access...

Today I voted once again to stop the President from attacking Iran.

All Americans have gotten out of this unjustified war is higher prices.

Congress is sending a clear message to President Trump: stop the war. Lower prices.

07/23/2026

I voted no on the House version of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) because it raises the defense budget to $1.15 trillion, paving the way for the Administration to continue spending billions of dollars on Trump’s unjustified war in Iran rather than lowering the cost of living for everyday Americans. I also opposed this legislation because my Republican colleagues added extreme provisions attacking the right to vote, and health care for servicemembers, their kids and the LGBTQI+ community.

I hope the final version of the bill removes these harmful provisions and returns the focus to raising servicemember pay, investing in Naval Station Everett and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and supporting NATO allies and Ukraine.
