We honor the service and sacrifice of U.S. Army Sgt. Michael Swinton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, who gave his life in defense of our nation. Please join me in praying for his wife, his daughter, and all who knew and loved him. May God grant them peace, strength, and comfort in the days ahead.

Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton was killed in action during the disposal of a downed Iranian one-way attack drone in Iraq.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of our servicemembers in Jordan, including Lt. Feehan, who was assigned to Ft. Bragg. My prayers are with their family, friends, and fellow soldiers. May God grant them strength and comfort, and may we always honor the service and sacrifice of our American heroes.

1st Lt. Feehan was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg.

I joined Spectrum News 1 Charlotte to discuss how the BUILD America 250 Act, a five-year surface transportation reauthorization package, will help deliver infrastructure projects across North Carolina more quickly while securing more funding to improve the roads and bridges our communities rely on every day.

Today, I voted to advance the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026 out of committee.

This bill makes investments across Southeastern North Carolina, protecting homes and businesses from natural disasters, and strengthens our maritime economy. I’m proud to have secured key priorities for NC-07 and will keep fighting to deliver results for North Carolina.

I’m both shocked and saddened to learn of Senator Lindsey Graham’s passing. Freedom has lost a great champion. His clear-eyed and principled view of foreign policy made a real difference for the safety and security of America as well as our allies.

It is hard to imagine Congress without Lindsey Graham. He will be sorely missed.
