From its earliest days, Erie has shaped American history. It was on the shores of Presque Isle Bay where Daniel Dobbins built a fleet of naval ships later commanded by a young Oliver Hazard Perry during the Battle of Lake Erie.

This morning, on those very shores, I joined a commemoration ceremony honoring the 100th anniversary of Perry Monument.

Today's ceremony is a fitting tribute to Perry, to Erie, to the United States Navy, and to the United States of America.

In 2024, the Sharon High School Robotics Team visited my Washington office after they won the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship for their project, Adapt-A-Reel, an adaptive fishing device.

On Wednesday, Senator Michele Brooks and I stopped by Sharon High School to meet with students and staff once again as they kick off the new school year. They are doing incredible things in STEM education!

Today’s visit takes us to Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania in Butler County, where we see how federal funding secured through our Community Project Funding requests supports local infrastructure projects in one of the fastest-growing areas of Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District.

These projects are making a difference right here at home, with your tax dollars supporting investments in our communities.

Today, I introduced a resolution to designate September 3, 2026, as National Neuroblastoma Awareness Day.

This resolution recognizes the children and families affected by neuroblastoma, along with the clinicians and researchers who are working to develop better treatments and ultimately find a cure.

It was an honor to join Hyundai Hope on Wheels today and recognize the incredible work being done in the fight against childhood cancer.

For nearly three decades, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has supported pediatric cancer research and helped give hope to children and families facing some of their toughest days.

As a Co-Chair of both the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus and the House Cancer Caucus, I’m proud to support efforts in Congress that advance lifesaving pediatric cancer research and help ensure doctors and researchers have the tools they need to develop better treatments and, ultimately, find cures.

Thank you to Hyundai Hope on Wheels, the dedicated medical professionals and researchers, and especially the brave children and families who continue to inspire us all.

The United States is in a race to secure critical minerals, which are essential for economic competitiveness both for today and for years to come. It is imperative that China not have a monopoly on critical minerals.

During today's Committee on Ways and Means GOP hearing, I reinforced the need for the United States to establish strategic partnerships to secure critical minerals and other natural resources to combat China.

Strong partnerships with our allies will create a stronger and safer America.
