I have neither owned nor traded individual stocks since long before I was elected to Congress, and neither has my husband. Members of Congress should not abuse the public trust by trading stocks and making money off potential insider information they only have because of their jobs.

From day one, I was an original cosponsor and strongly supported this legislation, and I was proud to vote for it today to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks. Serving in Congress is and should be about service to our country, not about getting rich at the expense of your constituents.

As your Representative, I am committed to transparently serving your needs and making your life easier and more affordable. I take that commitment seriously, and I will never abuse the trust you have placed in me.

Today’s passage of the NDAA is a massive win for Missouri and our national security. The greater St. Louis region is critical to the defense of our nation and to our military strength, and I successfully led initiatives to make sure our Missouri-made programs receive over $12 billion in support. This includes more than $4.9 billion for the new F-47 stealth fighter, $3.6 billion for our F-15s, $1.9 billion for our F/A-18s, $1.3 billion for the MQ-25 drone, and over $360 million for Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Small Diameter Bombs.

I was also proud to lead the effort to invest millions of dollars in Mizzou’s MANTIS program, which will support our small businesses and the local defense industrial base in building the F-47. All of these efforts together account for thousands of jobs across our community.

Our American warfighters put their lives on the line for our freedoms every day, and they deserve to have our full support on the battlefield and here at home. Today’s NDAA invests in the men and women of our armed forces by modernizing our military, expanding defense production capacity, and providing a crucial pay raise for our troops while improving housing, education, and childcare for military families.

I will always stand with and support investments in our military and our state, and this legislation will ensure our adversaries will never gain a competitive edge on the battlefield, in no small part due to our Missouri-made capabilities.

For millions of seniors across this country, retirement isn’t given – it is earned through years of hard work and dedication.

It is the result of overtime shifts, vacations postponed and contributions made even when budgets are tight.

Retirement is the reward for decades of discipline, and for those who have made personal sacrifices to build up a nest egg, financial independence and peace of mind should be the payoff.

Unfortunately, for a growing number of seniors, this promise is under attack.

Seniors and vulnerable investors need our help, which is why I got to work and drafted the Financial Exploitation Prevention Act to give them simple and commonsense protections from fraud that has become all too commonplace and ruined too many lives.

Read my op-ed in St. Louis Business Journal here.

One in five senior investors will fall victim to financial fraud in their lifetimes. Congresswoman Ann Wagner writes that a House bill would give firms up to 15 days to investigate suspicious transactions.

I appreciated meeting with the President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri and learning more about their new St. Louis office and their efforts to provide affordable access to healthcare in our communities.

We also spoke on the No Surprises Act, legislation designed to give patients financial stability and protect them from unexpected billing.

It’s always great to meet with the Missouri Soybean Association to talk about the issues facing Missouri farmers today.

From strong biofuel policies, to advancing the Farm Bill and protecting Missouri River water resources, we addressed how we can make sure government is working to help our local farmers.

Missouri soybean growers help feed and fuel America, and I am proud to continue supporting them in Congress.

My work in Congress has been focused on giving the American people and our small businesses better opportunities to grow their financial future on their own terms.

I questioned our new Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh about his approach to ensure our markets are strong and benefiting the American people, how he plans to help stabilize prices, and the Fed's other responsibilities.

Watch here.

With 327 bipartisan cosponsors, my Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act is the most widely supported piece of legislation to receive a vote this Congress, passing unanimously in the House. I have spent over two years working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle as well as law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim support groups to build this overwhelming coalition and craft legislation that protects victims without spending a single taxpayer dollar.

The Senate has delayed long enough. If this bill is not passed and signed into law, domestic violence shelters and child advocacy centers serving seven million victims throughout the entire nation will be forced to triage their services, making assistance for survivors of unfathomable abuse more difficult to access.

Many of these bills spend months or even years stuck in committee without ever receiving a floor vote.

Thanks to our Missouri Broadcasters Association for dropping by and meeting with us in Washington, D.C.

They were in town advocating for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, legislation that I am proud to support and will ensure AM radio is standard in passenger vehicles so drivers can continue to receive emergency alerts and stay safe during emergencies.

Today is the Day of Reflection for the Srebrenica Genocide, and we take time to pause and recognize those who tragically lost their lives 31 years ago in the face of evil.

We cherish our Bosnian community in St. Louis, and I will always be proud to work with them to strengthen ties and build a better future.

Today is the 200th Anniversary of our very own historic Jefferson Barracks that has had an outsized impact on our military history and national security.

Jefferson Barracks is home to the Missouri Air National Guard and Army National Guard, a Veterans Affairs hospital complex, and the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where more than 200,000 veterans are laid to rest.

It stands as a living symbol of service, sacrifice, and Missouri’s enduring contribution to the defense of the United States, and I am so proud to work with them as they play an active role in serving our nation and our local community.

I introduced legislation in Congress to formally honor and celebrate Jefferson Barracks. You can read it here.
