An effective Trade Adjustment Assistance program will support American workers so they are able to handle economic disruption and compete in our global economy.

We discussed the impact of this critical assistance program and opportunities to update it in the Ways and Means Committee today.

The House took an important step today to restore faith in our democratic process, strengthen voting rights, and curb the influence of dark money in our campaigns.

Through the #ForThePeople Act, we will put the voice of the American people front and center. Learn more about this important legislation here:

H.R. 1 is the most transformational and comprehensive suite of democracy reforms in a generation. This sweeping package of pro-democracy and anti-corruption reforms puts power back in the hands of the American people as it protects clean and fair elections through

Comprehensive policing reform in America must happen now. I voted today to pass the George Floyd #JusticeInPolicing Act to reimagine policing in America by increasing accountability and transparency within law enforcement.

Washington teachers now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine, Inslee announces

We all want our kids to get back to in-person learning and for this to happen safely, it's important that our teachers and child care workers can access #COVID19 vaccines. Glad to see President Joe Biden and Governor Jay Inslee are prioritizing our educators.

Educators and licensed childcare workers can schedule with providers right away, the state announced.

Virginia governor signs nation’s second state consumer privacy bill

In the face of congressional inaction, states are understandably advancing their own consumer data privacy legislation to protect their residents.

A patchwork of state laws won’t work in our digital world. We need a national privacy standard to bring our laws into the 21st Century so your rights are the same across the country.

The legislation will allow residents of the commonwealth to opt out of having their data collected and sold. It goes into effect in 2023.

Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine OK'd for use in Wash. state

A third safe and effective #COVID19 vaccine received emergency use authorization by the FDA and WA state. Nearly 4 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be shipped out across the country this week.

This vaccine only requires one dose and is easier to ship and store helping to get more vaccines out to our communities and save lives.

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The new Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine has been authorized by the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup for use in Washington state, Gov. Jay Inslee announced Wednesday. The announcement comes after the Food & Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control a...

76% of voters support the #AmericanRescuePlan, including support from 60% of Republicans.

The American people are demanding we take decisive action. Let’s get this done.

While Republicans in Congress have balked at the overall price tag for Biden’s proposed package, new Morning Consult/Politico polling shows that the public — including Republican voters — overwhelmingly supports the legislation.

The $1.9 Trillion Stimulus Plan

Have questions about the #AmericanRescuePlan?

The Daily breaks down what's in the package, including a one-year expansion of the #ChildTaxCredit that I fought for to give qualifying families up to $3,600/child.

This historic relief package cannot wait.

As the Senate prepares to vote on President Biden’s first major piece of legislation, we look at the partisan debate that has erupted around it.

State recognizes Whatcom shorted COVID-19 vaccine doses, makes plans to catch county up

Great to see Washington has recognized the unequal distribution of vaccines that has left Whatcom County with fewer doses and is working hard to fix this. Every county deserves access to these life-saving vaccines.

“I know that our colleagues at the state level are working tirelessly to do the right thing,” Whatcom County Executive Satpal Sidhu said.

Our children are in trouble if we don't pass Biden's child allowance

Children facing food and housing insecurity are at a greater risk of developing health issues now and later in their lives.

We need to expand the #ChildTaxCredit to reduce these risks. That's why I continue to fight to make this permanent expansion a reality.

President Biden’s child allowance proposal would be a game-changer for children in America, and should be combined with recurring checks to make sure that we’re getting help to families now and in the long-term so that no child has to live in poverty, and that all children have the opportunity t...

Facebook privacy settlement approved: Nearly 1.6 million Illinois users will ‘expeditiously’ get at least $345

Too often, we think our personal info is protected online but in reality, there are few data privacy protections on the books. We need a national data privacy standard so everyone's information is protected in our digital world.

A California federal judge issued final approval Friday in a $650 million Facebook class action privacy settlement, with an order to get at least $345 to each of nearly 1.6 million Illinois class members “as expeditiously as possible.”

It's been a year since the first known U.S. COVID-19 death in #WA01. Since then we have lost a staggering 500,000 Americans.

The passage of the American Rescue Plan in the House and the increased shipments of safe and effective vaccines are big steps forward.

02/27/2021

Nearly a year since the first U.S. death from #COVID19 in Washington, House Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, showing relief is our top priority. With a pandemic still raging, weak economic data, and families just barely holding on, our communities need more support.

This package includes:
💵 $1,400 checks for qualifying Americans
👩‍👩‍👦 Regular payments for families w/ children
💉 A national vaccination strategy
💼 $400/week in federal unemployment assistance
🏫 $130 billion to reopen schools
🏪 More small biz lending

Biden nominates three to USPS board of governors as DeJoy testifies on mail crises

Postmaster General DeJoy's insistence on raising prices and reducing service is misguided and will hurt rural communities the most.

Last week, I called on President Joe Biden to promptly fill the open seats on the USPS Board. I am glad he has nominated three experienced individuals who will ensure the US Postal Service restores its service standards to the levels that Americans nationwide depend on.

The White House moves to reassert control of the U.S. Postal Service as the postmaster general brushes off lawmakers’ calls to resign.

Biden administration changes PPP rules to help reach the smallest businesses

Small business PPP loans were meant to go to those most impacted by #COVID19 but in too many cases, those with a good relationship with their banker received funds before those who needed it most, many minority-owned.

President Joe Biden is opening a two-week period starting Wednesday exclusively for smaller businesses to apply for loans.

The Biden administration announced several changes Monday to the Paycheck Protection Program in an effort to reach minority-owned and very small businesses that may have previously missed out on accessing loans to help weather the coronavirus pandemic.
