Grateful that the House Armed Services Committee passed the FY27 NDAA, demonstrating our commitment of Peace Through Strength and supports funding for critical missions in the district I represent and around the Palmetto State. This bill secures vital missions at Savannah River Site, supports defense research in South Carolina, protects Eisenhower Army Medical Center, strengthens our defense industrial base, and gives our troops the pay and equipment they need to deter our adversaries. As a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, I appreciate the leadership of Representatives Mike Rogers and Adam Smith.

Congratulations to Antares for reaching criticality with its Mark-0 microreactor during a demonstration at Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory. This is a monumental step for American energy, and I was grateful to join Antares in April for the grand opening of their Aiken office.

Today, as part of the U.S. Department of Energy Reactor Pilot Program, Antares Nuclear’s advanced reactor design, the Mark-0, successfully completed a zero-power fueled criticality demonstration at DOE's Idaho National Laboratory.

It was wonderful to have joined Executive Director of the Aiken Corporation, Megan Pruitt; South Carolina Representative Bill Clyburn; Aiken Rotary President Keyatta Priester; South Carolina Senator Tom Young; and other local leaders at the weekly Rotary Club of Aiken meeting. This meeting was hosted in the new Tom Young Center for Research & Innovation. This impressive three-story facility will house Savannah River National Lab offices, provide collaborative research space for USC Aiken, and serve as a venue for community events.

Tomorrow, we recognize D-Day. In 1944, 160,000 Allied troops confronted N**i forces on the French coastline, reshaping World War II in the name of freedom. Let us honor all those heroes of D-Day who bravely fought and supported this monumental effort, particularly those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Grateful to have given the welcoming remarks at the Elevate Care South Carolina Forum, alongside the CEO and director of Level Up Healthcare Academy, Dr. Colette Townsend-Chambers, and other healthcare providers from across the state. The Forum focused on the theme of “Improving Care in South Carolina” and recognized the importance of collaboration to strengthen our healthcare workforce.

It was wonderful to have met with representatives from Michelin to discuss the important role they play in the state and across the country, and issues relating to trade and defense. The company has multiple plants within the state, and South Carolina continues to be the highest exporter of tires in America.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Small Business Lunch, presented by Dominion Energy, to wrap up Small Business Month. I was joined by Chamber CEO, Tim James; Chamber Board Chair, JB Beckett; Mayor of West Columbia, Tem Miles; Mayor of Irmo, Bill Danielson; and other community leaders and members. The Chamber serves as a platform for business owners to advocate on behalf of the business community.

This is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization with a goal to deliver critical mission support across the United States, advancing nuclear cleanup, national security, clean-energy innovation, and federal infrastructure programs.
