BEWARE OF “STORM CHASER” SCAMS

After a major storm, legitimate contractors often arrive to help. Unfortunately, so do people looking to take advantage of homeowners who are tired, overwhelmed, and trying to make repairs quickly.

Before agreeing to any work:

Get recommendations from people you trust
Research the company and verify its contact information
Ask for proof of insurance and any required credentials
Get the full scope of work and cost in writing
Read the contract before signing
Avoid paying the full amount upfront
Be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics or claims that you must decide immediately

Do not allow urgency to replace good judgment. A reputable contractor should be willing to answer questions, provide documentation, and give you time to review the agreement.

For now, volunteers must wait until they are contacted and assigned by Volunteer Fox Cities. Please do not self-deploy or report to damaged areas.

We are only accepting donations of water at the Fox Cites Campus (former UWO Fox Cities). Please also stop bringing supplies of food and clothes to the former ox Cities campus while crews organize the site.

POLICE ARE ADVISING NO VEHICLE TRAFFIC IS BEING ALLOWED INTO MENASHA AT THIS TIME, AND DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE IN MENASHA CITY LIMITS.

Residents should shelter in place when possible. If people want to park and wait until they are allowed should proceed to Christ the Rock Church.

Crews are prioritizing the clearing of Highway 114, Highway 47, and Racine Street for emergency and essential traffic.

Do not drive around barricades or enter closed areas.
Transportation to emergency shelter is available from the former Shopko parking lot, 1150 Midway Road, to:
