PUBLIC NOTICE Local Road Safety Plan Workshop

Hardee County residents are invited to attend the upcoming Local Road Safety Plan Workshop and share input on future transportation safety projects in our community.

Date: Thursday, September 3
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Hardee County Ag Training Room
515 Civic Center Drive
Wauchula, FL

The workshop will include a brief presentation on the Local Road Safety Plan process, along with stations where participants can provide feedback on roadway safety concerns.

An interactive map will also be available to help identify crash “hot spots” and areas where safety improvements may be needed.

Latest Tropical Weather Outlook

Northern Gulf of America and near Florida:
A large area of showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Gulf of
America is associated with an upper-level low and a surface trough.
Some gradual development of this system is possible while it
meanders northward, bringing heavy rain to portions of the Florida
west coast during the next several days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...low...30 percent.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
A broad area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, is
located near the southern Cabo Verde Islands. The low continues to
produce a limited and disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms
while it moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. Significant
development of this system is not expected before environmental
conditions become even less favorable for development over the
weekend. Regardless of development, this system will likely produce
some gusty winds and locally heavy rain over the southern Cabo Verde
Islands over the next several hours.

Update: Shaking has been felt across much of Florida in the aftermath of the 6.1 magnitude quake just west of Cuba.

📢ANNOUNCEMENT📢
Burn ban has been lifted for Hardee County residents. However, caution is still strongly encouraged when conducting debris burning, including monitoring wind conditions, surrounding vegetation, and using proper control measures.

Hardee County Fire Rescue will continue to monitor conditions in the event that drought conditions worsen, or fire risk increases and will make recommendations as necessary to protect public safety.
